ลำดับตอนที่ #62 : TCL2: The Letter
The guide to the underworld said nothing just sat down on a couch and looked at me silently.
“Don’t waste your time with him, Emma. Let’s go out for some fresh air.” Patrick ended our conversation and tried to lead me out of the room but I still stood there waiting to get an answer from this quiet angel.
Though it pissed off my protector, he was still there right next to me.
Minute by minute passed by but there was still blankness from him.
“I told you not to waste your time with him. Let’s get out of here.” he walked to the door without looking back.
I finally gave up and followed my protector.
The angel stopped our steps. “You and my sister have lots in common, you know?” Benjamin eventually said.
I turned back around. Why did people around me like to mention Roxanne so many times? I didn’t hate her. She might have been a nice person but… the feeling that she used to be Patrick’s girlfriend made me feel unpleased.
“I’ve heard that before,” I crossed my arms as my voice became stressed. “What are you trying to say?”
He was a little stunned by my reaction. “I don’t want to see your soul destroyed, Emma.”
“The gypsy who I’m going to meet can help me with this. My charm will be fixed and I will be fine.”
The angel stood up and started to talk seriously. “It’s different, Emma. A gypsy is not a witch. They don’t know witchcraft. Your charm will be temporarily fixed. Trust me. It’s not worth the risk to your soul.”
“She is not risking anything. She has me,” Patrick said confidently.
Once again, his enemy ignored him. He didn’t even get a glimpse from the angel.
He glanced at my wrist and said, “It’s obvious that your protector hasn’t done a good job, young lady.”
“And it’s obvious who she trusts the most even though she has just been through the worse time of her life,” said Patrick angrily.
After he said that, the room suddenly became quiet. The two men stared at each other, and waited for an opportunity to burn the other.
“Guys, please! Just… Stop acting like little children trying to get my attention!”
Finally, the room became quiet again.
I began to get frightened. I thought I would have it completely fixed but how could I live like an ordinary person when it wouldn’t last forever?
“Now tell me what I should do when you tell me that it will be only temporarily fixed.”
The black angel grabbed a roll of paper from his inner coat.
I involuntary took a step back away from the paper. For some reason, this was not a normal piece of paper. I wondered why I had not noticed the blue aura that was shining out of the paper earlier.
“Never knew that you could butt into a humans business,” said th reproaching light spirit. Obviously, it was not only me who needed to learn how to shut up.
Once again, my protector had been ignored.
Poor him.
“When people die, my job is to take them for judgment to decide the right place for them. If I have to take your soul, I want to make sure that it’s not going to the wrong place.”
“So you’re saying that this paper is a better choice?” My life had been hard enough before the charm cracked and now it was even harder.
“Seems that way,” he paused. “But I don’t think you will like it, young lady.”
“What is it?” I asked and had to take a few steps back when Benjamin carefully unrolled the paper and handed it to me.
“You should see it yourself.”
My hand suspiciously took the paper that shined brighter when I got it.
An instantly warm feeling appeared when I touched it.
This paper belonged to me.
I began to read it and let Patrick do the same over my shoulder.
Dear Emma.
I have been watching you for quite a long time. I have seen your recently tough life and I’d like to help. if you become a member of my team, there’s nothing you will have to be afraid of. If you have any questions, my man will answer everything you want to know.
Be glad that you are chosen, my dear.
Love
G.
Patrick was a fast reader. He took a few steps away from me right after he finished the last line. He looked at me then he looked at the paper as if it were an alien object.
“Who’s G.?” I asked. I hoped he was not who I thought he was.
“He’s my boss, young lady.” He paused and assured me that It was who I had thought. “God.”
