    [ENG] The Curse of Laura

    ลำดับตอนที่ #56 : TCL2: Not Again!

    • อัปเดตล่าสุด 20 พ.ย. 55

My name is Emma Russell. On my seventeenth birthday, I received the greatest birthday gift, the curse of Laura. My grandfather had broken her heart not knowing she was a witch. She cursed him to have spirits hunt down his family.  Unfortunately, I was his lineage; and those spirits started to hunt me down too.

Laura gave him three charms to protect him and his twin sons, my dad and my never-mentioned uncle, from dark spirits. I received one of the three charms after my grandfather had passed away, but I cracked it. Ever since that day, I have been more vulnerable.

There were two types of spirits; pure spirits and dark spirits. My dad had assigned a pure spirit to be my guard. His name was Patrick. I almost died but he saved my life. That was the reason why I was here at the hospital.

A loud booming sound woke me up in the middle of the night. I looked outside the big window and found nothing in the darkness only heavy rain.

I looked around to find the person who was always by my side; the one who had just saved my life, Patrick, but it seemed like it was only me in this cold room.

2:55 am was what the clock at the top by my bed said.

I slowly sat up and grabbed the remote to turn the television on to kill the silence. A sharp pain suddenly appeared. I couldn’t help but bit my lips. Lucas had left a long cut on my arm. Even though the surgeon assured me that there wouldn’t be a single scar on my arm, I felt the opposite. Sooner or later; after physical therapy, my hand would be working fine again.

While I was searching for an interest channel to watch, I heard a crack of thunder before everything blacked out.

The sky was crying and screaming whoosh desperately as the lightning kept appearing intermittently.

I grabbed the flashlight from a desk drawer to light up the room. I didn’t have scotophobia, but to be in a dark hospital room alone made me feel tense.

As soon as I had turned the flashlight on, I had to cover my mouth so I didn’t scream. My heart was racing as my body immediately became weak.

A man in a black suit was standing there, across the room, at the end of the light. Drop by drop of sticky liquid kept falling from his suit and vanished on the floor. He started hobbling toward me. Every step he took made a popping sound. It was not only because his eye sockets were empty as if someone had harshly scooped them out, but the black dagger in his hand assured me who he really was!

I tried to jump off the bed but the medical tubes held me down. “How can you be here? You are already dead!” I tried to blench away until my back was against the headboard.

“You can’t run away from me, Emma. You are mine!”

Without hesitation, I pulled the tubes out of my arm to free myself from the bed.

“Don’t think that you can get away from me this time!”

As I was jumping off the bed, the tubes that I just dropped swiftly bound to both of my ankles. I attempted to untie the tubes but more tubes were flying to fasten my writs, fixed me in bed, all by Lucas’ control.

    No… Not again…

I turned my head around to search for my protector, as this evil was getting closer.

“Help! Somebody help!” I bawled but there was only thunder to answer me.

Where was Patrick? Why was he not here when I needed him? Why was he letting him do this to me again?

Lucas stopped by my bed and raised the blade over my wriggling body; as I hopelessly tried to escape from this bondage, he was intent on taking my life again. The lightning’s reflection off of the blade took my breath away.

    “NO!!!”

    “NO!!!”

“Emma!” somebody was shaking my body very hard. “Emma, wake up!”

I was panic-stricken as my eyes opened wide. “Matt!” I threw my sweating body into his arms and hugged him as tight as if he was my only way to live.

Even though it was just a dream, but the sharp pain on my arm was real.

Matthew rubbed my head slowly to soothe me while he sat in my bed. “I’m here, Em. It’s over now.”

My body was still shivering. The thought of facing Lucas again was going to make me cry. I wasn’t sure if he was gone forever or just for now.

“It was just a nightmare. You are safe now,” Matthew said softly.

At the moment, I realized that there was someone who was displeased watching me from the other side of my bed, Patrick.

I awkwardly pushed Matthew off me. “Sorry.”

“Don’t be. You know that you are always welcome in my arms,” he said. “How are you feeling now?”

“Good,” I couldn’t deny that he really helped me feel a whole lot better. “Plus the doctor said I could go home in a couple days.”

“That’s really nice to hear,” he gently grabbed my hand and lovingly held it in his. “I’m so sorry I left you with that psycho that day, I had no idea why I left you like that.” he said in a very low voice, showing how much he had regretted it.

    You were hypnotized, duh.

“I have no idea either,” I lied.

“I shouldn’t have left so you wouldn’t…” he carefully held my injured arm. “So you wouldn’t get hurt… I’m so sorry.”

“Why don’t you just tell him the truth so he can just shut up?” said Patrick annoyed.

I softly pulled my arm back. “It’s not your fault Matt. Don’t worry.”

“It was my fault. I should be there for you. You know that I will be there for you even when your boyfriend has abandoned you, you know?”

My boyfriend? I glanced at Patrick and suddenly blushed. Everything between us had happened very fast. I didn’t know what we were really. Only thing I knew was that we were more than just friends now and our feelings were mutual.

“If he doesn’t shut up soon, I swear I will kick his ass next time I am solid,” said my dissatisfied protector.

“Where is Patrick anyway? Why is he not here to take care of you?”

“Um…” I couldn’t help but glimpse at him again hopelessly trying to come up with a good reason. “After he saved my life, I told him to get some rest.”

My answer stunned Matthew for three seconds, but he regained composer again. “You know. If we were still together, I wouldn’t want to leave your side, not even if I was tired from saving someone I care about. Cause I’ve never been tired of taking care of who I love,” Matthew looked deep into my eyes as he said this, trying to show me all of his feelings through his eyes.

“Tell him that I am with you all the time.”

I ignored Patrick and seriously told Matthew, “Matt, everything that was between us is over. We are never ever getting back together –like ever.”

The son of hospital’s owner smiled calmly, “I told you that I will do everything to win you back and I meant it,” he stood up and gave a little stretch, “my dad wants me to invite you and your father to our family dinner. And if you come, you don’t have to pay a single cent for these medical services.”
