Flowers Bulbs Tulips

Learning meditation may seem mysterious but it is really very simple. Spending time in meditation each day, even for a short time, will help you to relax, reduce your stress level and even make you a little more creative.

The first thing you need to do is make sure you are wearing comfortable clothing. Don't wear anything that is going to distract you - a tight pair of pants, a too small belt. Make sure you will not have any interruptions. Take the phone off the hook if you have to and definitely turn your cell phone off. If you like you can put on some soft music.

Find a quiet place to sit. Sit in a comfortable chair, or you can sit cross-legged on the floor. In your seated position, put your hands on your lap with your palms facing upward. Close your eyes and begin to breathe deeply. Slowly inhale, hold your breath for a few seconds, then slowly exhale. This will start to get you in a relaxed state of mind.

The stress of the day should be starting to leave you. Now, to begin, just picture yourself in a place where you have been, or would be, the happiest - on a tropical island, out in the country. Now picture it in great detail - smell of the flowers, the sound of the ocean.

Keep breathing deeply and just let your mind wander. Don't be discouraged if something from work pops into your head just get back to that island. After about 20 minutes you can start your breathing exercises again and complete your meditation. You should feel refreshed and recharged.

If you enjoy meditating you can go to a bookstore or spiritual store and pick up some guided meditation tapes or CDs. These are great because a voice will guide you along the way.
