Chapter 1: Somewhere

Zap…Zap…Zap…

          The sound of engineering tools which they used to construct the buildings. I found it really annoy when I got close to it, even though I myself need to use it all the time. People were saying that we’re part of those who will make the change to world; somehow I believe that we already made change to it.

          “Hey, Delta!” Someone shouted.

I remain quiet with my brain full of thoughts.

“Hey, goddamn Delta! Can you hear me?”  The guy shouted again with a louder voice.

          “What’s it, Alph?” I replied.

“Stop with your daydreaming, and get your ass back to work!” Alph talked back with an angry tone.

“Alright…alright...” I told him.

Zap…Zap…Zap…

The tool was called Heat Gen, we used it in order to connect each piece of cosmic iron. One by one, everybody works on it real hard.

“Do you have any plan for this coming vacation, Delta?”  Theta asked.

“Nothing in particular.”  I replied.

“I and Eta were thinking about going somewhere far away from here.”  Theta said with an enthusiastic tone.

“Really…and so?”  I talked back as If I have no interest in it.

“C’mon, man. It’ll be lots of fun.”  The persuasion begins.

“Nah…This is the fifth time you said something like this to me, and it always turn into a crap when we went somewhere.” I replied with an angry tone.

“Look at this E-pamphlet.” Theta shows it close up to my eyes.

At the point, I saw something interesting in the pamphlet.

          “When will that be?” I asked.

“Oh…That’s unexpected of you to be interest in what I say.” Theta answered me with his face full of doubt.

          “I see that you don’t really want me to go.” I said.

“Visit us at Uranusium on the first of May, 2107.”  Theta read the pamphlet.

“I’ll think about that.” I said.

In the evening on my way back home riding on the shuttle, full of thoughts about Uranus resonance in my brain.

“Uranus is 2099 million kilometers away from here, eh?” I though.

I know that it’ll take a while to get there, but I think that it’ll worth the time it took.

“Jupitel Avenue station, those passengers who wish to drop off here please be prepared.” The shuttle man informed.

The gate with the light shone off as If it’ll lead to me the heaven has been open. I got off from the shuttle by walking pass the gate. The gate will move bits of small particle of creature body to the destined location instantly.

Room 77-GG, the place where I live since when I was a child. Once I open the door, the scent of building model made from cosmic plastic that I work on would touch my nose. It’s not so nice to have this kind of smell in my room, but it’s part of my work so I can say nothing about it.

Full of tiredness I throw myself into the bed and sleep without taking a bath or brush my teeth.

Bip...Bip…Bip…

The sound of alarm clock is ringing incessantly. I wake up with my eye closed and try to sweep my hand randomly in order to stop the noise from the clock.

          …Click…

          The alerting noise died out, the time is 7.00 in the morning. I move myself to bathroom then to the kitchen, I cook myself a breakfast, and go off to my workplace by riding on the usual shuttle…

Chapter 2: Jupiterian

          It’s just like the other days. When I get to my workplace, I’ll see a big bunker-like building. Transport tubes will be attached to every inches of the building. From what I heard this tube will be working just like what they call lift in the blue planet. It’s indeed a pretty big building and located in downtown. A lot of shuttles would run around from this place to somewhere far away, regardless of the long distance, the shuttle can travel fast enough to make a person get in time for work, thanks to the Acceleration-II motor that was used in shuttle. The temperature in Jupiter was freezing; there’s no wonder why Jupiterian’s skin goes dry and rough like a sand paper, plus the surface pressure was not stable, the body develops into steel-liked body in order to stay in shape. The same thing goes to the hair, with this cold weather; ours would turn into spiky-liked.

          I walked into the workshop. Today I’ll have to do some research for my project. I first turned on my laptop, and looked at the screen searching for something.

          “Hey, Delta!” Eta called.

          “What’s up, dude?” I casually said.

          “Take a look at this.” Eta talked and showed me the newspaper.

          “The New Frontier? What’s that?” I questioned Eta.

“Beats me.” Eta talked back as If he wants to know more about that too.

Buzz…

          The bell is ringing. Eta gave me the newspaper and told me to read more about it. I got back to my work. I looked back to the screen and read something about materials that will be used in the construction of the new space station. Jupiter is indeed the biggest one in the solar system, most of the resource can be found here, and that made us one of the most developed planets. In fact, we are the nation that has the highest technology.

          I looked out of the building through the window. It’s always dark out there. My grandparents used to tell me a story of how they thought when they were children.

          “It was a time when we know nothing but Jupiter. We were thinking if there was someone out there in the solar system. We looked up into the sky, found nothing but an eternal darkness. Just when we thought of something like that, someone would say that we’re just afraid to be the only one who lived in this vast and isolated galaxy. That’s part of it, but for some reason, we still believe that someone out there was looking for us too…”

          Whenever I think about that I just couldn’t believe it that the thing in the past would come true. That’s not the point now, what we are looking for is beyond from where we are now.

          It is now after-work time, Today I walk myself to the park. I could hear the voice of the kid running and shouting to one another from the front gate of the park. I enter the gate. The artificial breeze flows and gently touches my face. I turn my face left and take a look at the ball game of those high school students. When I turn my face on the other ways, I could see people having fun, some are having picnic, and some are sketching the picture of the artificial tree.  I stand still in the park for a while as if the time has been stopped; things are so peaceful here.

          I left the place and caught a shuttle to the restaurant. I had my dinner, and then I went home and got a nice rest.

          Bip…Bip…

          I click on the top of the clock to die out the alert. Today’s Saturday and I has nothing to do. So I decided to go out for a walk at Jupiter Square. Just like that I ride on my Vapor Walker to the square. Jupiter surface was made up of gas, that’s why automobile assembler comes up with this vapor walker.

          On my way to the square, I could see people walking around the place, some are walking by themselves, some are walking with their family, and some are walking with their Cosmo pet. On Jupiter, the places will have Gas Vacuum machine, so that people can walk and be able to see the vision clearly. The traffic is pretty good; the government would stack up some more layers for the street. The thing works just like an Internet servers, people can access to the same route, but with different dimensions. That’s mean one street but with more dimensions make it capable to hold up more people.

          …Click…

          I stop the engine and walk to the square, there’s no need to be worry about the vapor walker or any belonging. Everything can be activated by verifying the user’s DNA. With an unfamiliar DNA, the things will never move off from their place.

          Walking around the square, it’s quite boring to go somewhere alone. I was thinking about watching a film, but someone suddenly called out for me.

          “What’s up, Delta?” Psy, the old friend of mine, called.

          “Oh. Long time no see, Psy.” I replied with a surprised gesture.

          “It’s been 3 years since we last met.” Psy said.

          “So what did you do for a living?” Psy asked.

“I’m an engineer at the JSH and what about you?” I asked him back with a face that really looks forward to the answer.

“JSH, you mean the Jupiter Space Headquarter?! Psy said with a voice full of excitement.

“Yes, it is.” I replied

The conversation goes on for quite a while until Psy got a phone call and once he hung up the phone.

“It’s nice talking to you, Delta, but I have to going now. Take care!” Psy said and waved a hand at me while he walked out.

In the end, he didn’t tell me what he did for a living. It can’t be help when he was in hurry.

Chapter 3: Way to Uranus

After my conversation with Psy I look at my watch and it’s already 12 now so I make my way to the restaurant. After that I got back and ride my walker back to my room. Once I got back to my room, I first read the newspaper that Eta gave it to me.

“The New Frontier, as you all might know that the universe is bigger than any of you can imagine, Jupiterian might have known about the other galaxies for a period of time, but not know a way to get there, due to the distance that’s so far away. Professor Derister is the first person in the Milky Way who can think of the way. Professor Derister who was born on the Earth and graduated from University of Uranus had been achieving something that will change the whole world!”

That’s what it said on the newspaper. Some thoughts suddenly strike into my mind. Uranusium is the biggest lab in Uranus, there’s a chance that Derister will be working there after he graduated from its university. I give Theta a call.

“What is it, Delta?” Theta asked

“When we will be leaving for Uranus?!” I asked him with my mind runs wild.

“I really don’t know what got into you, but we’ll be leaving on the 28^th of April 2107.” Theta said.

“Okay, that’s good. Then see you later.” I said goodbye to Theta and hung up the phone immediately.

          I run to my living room and look at the digital calendar, the date is 14^th April 2107. That’ll be 14 days away from the departure date. I was quite upset when I think of just how long it’ll be for these 2 weeks. At the time, I think of nothing, but how to waste these 2 weeks in a short period of time. What I did is that I went to bed in the late afternoon.

          Zhoom…Zhoom…Zhoom…

          “What’s the heck with that noise?” I murmured.

Suddenly the flash light travels from somewhere entering my closed eyes, I try to open my heavy eyelids in order to see just what I heard.

I was shocked once I have seen such gigantic spaceship. Working in engineering section and this is the first time I see such design, I could say that in this Milky Way, there’s no way someone can find this type of spaceship. I open the drawer that set next to my bed, I get the digital camera and with my hand shaking, I took some photos of it. A photo of gigantic spaceship on the side of it was engraved with cosmic gold said “M79”. The ship was functioned by engine that can provide such tremendous power. The highest jet power released the blue smoke from the ship. The blue-color emission was overflow from its jet. I noticed that the entire city was covered by the blue smoke. I realized that the time passed so fast that I couldn’t catch up with it. At the time it left, I could see the spaceship released a blink of light out from the center of the ship and suddenly disappear as If it’s teleport to somewhere, but to move such object within a short period of time

Bip…Bip…Bip…

I am half asleep and half awake. I was thinking about just what happened back then. I afterward felt that something was in my hand, so I take a look at it and see that everything from last night was for real. Photos taken from last night are still in my camera. What’s left in my mind is that what kind of technology does “M79” has?

Chapter 4: Uranusium

Finally the day of departure has come to, the 28^th April 2107. Still in the morning I‘m preparing for the trip to Uranus.  I was packing up all the clothes needed for 7-day-trip.

“Incoming mail…Incoming mail…”

A message appears on the screen, it’s from Theta. I read the whole message:

“Meet me and Eta at 5 PM. We’ll be waiting at the square, hope to see you soon.

                                                Theta & Eta”

After I had read the message, I went to the bathroom and cooked breakfast. It’ll be a long vacation and we’ll be having like 7 days off from work. I’m so eager to see the Uranusium so I went to the space station 3 to 4 hours before the flight.

When I get there, I think that I’m not the only one who eager to see Uranusium, I saw Theta and Eta when I got there. They were waving hand at me when I saw them.

“I didn’t think that you would actually come with us.” Said Theta.

“Isn’t that a good thing, bro.” Eta agreed with Theta.

“Whatever…” I said it as If I don’t care about what they said.

Time passed by real fast when we’re chatting with each other.

“Passengers, who will be leaving to the Uranus, please come to Gate-U89. We’ll be leaving in another 30 minutes.” Flight master informed through the speakers.

We all get moving on to the Gate. On the way to the gate, I move my eyes around the place to observe the station. The station does look like a giant tube; half of it was build underground. To be more precise, I can imagine things outside when I look from the inside. The main tube would have many small piers connected to it. When compared it to a tree, the main tube would be the stem and the piers would be the branches that stick themselves out from the stem. In a pier, there will be at least 4-5 gates, the gate will teleport a person into the right spaceship by scanning the ticket of a passenger. Space station’s system was made up from the Milky Way’s nations. So the station in every nation will be the same.

“Blink!”

The sound was made and ceased in shortly, the meaning of it is that the ticket and ID card was match up with the information they have in computer. In a flash of time, I was teleported into a spaceship. Theta and Eta were followed me. We paid for the 3-person-room. Inside the room, it does look like the one in a college student dormitory. There’s a 3-storey-bed in a corner, next to it is a cupboard. On the opposite side, there’s a table, on top of it is a laptop. It’s convenient nowadays when I compared it to the generation before us. The bathroom is also in that room.

“Dear passengers, we’re now about to leave Jupiter and take you to the Uranus. The duration of the trip will be a day. Hope you will enjoy the trip, thank you.” Flight master informed.

 In an instant, the electricity in the room was cut off due to the need of energy when they used it to accelerate the speed in order to escape from the surface gravity.

“Zhoom!”

The sound of the ship dashes through the eternal darkness breaking throughout the atmosphere.
