    Chapter 32

    The Lightened Air

"I only wish to be the light air,

    lingering under the moonlight."

My room bell rang. I paused from reading my textbooks.

'Who is it?' I was curious. It was late at night, so I thought that it could probably be one of my classmates. They sometimes visited my room to discuss homework or to invite me to dine out.

I opened the door, and was surprised.

"P'Wayu! How did you know my room?" I was so sure that I hadn't told him my room number.

"I asked the dormitory staff 'where is Archawin Deshsakul?', and he told me. That's it." He shrugged, I gasped.

    'They told him so easily?'

However, P'Wayu was a UNISTAR. Everyone would definitely recognise him. No wonder they just told him without a doubt.

"Uh...well, is there anything I can help you with?" I asked. I hoped he didn't come here just because he wanted to talk about his joke.

"The other day, you left your shirt in my room, so I had the maid wash it for you. Here you are."

P'Wayu handed me a paper bag that contained my student uniform. It was all cleaned and dried.

"Oh, thank you so much. I totally forgot. I'm sorry for bothering you." I took it and felt guilty.

"Hey. No worries. Just a small thing." P'Wayu waved his hands as it wasn't a big deal to him.

    "And..." P'Wayu thought of something.

"I already watched your video. Everything will be fine. You'll be alright. Cheer up!"

"Thank you." I was delighted that he was also worried about me.

"Well, about the DomWhai T-shirt I gave you that day," P'Wayu started.

"Oh, right!" I remembered that I borrowed it from him and hadn't returned it yet.

"P'Wayu, I'll return it to you. Just a moment." I was about to bring it out, but P'Wayu interrupted me.

"No, no need. I already gave it to you."

'Then why did he mention the T-shirt?' I was wondering.

"I'm just curious." P'Wayu grinned. "That day, did P'In see your shirt?"

I recalled P'In complaining about it. He even bought me a new shirt to wear over it.

    "He saw it." I replied.

    "Really?" P'Wayu seemed excited.

    "Did he like it?"

"Uh..." I thought of his expression and swallowed.

"P'In didn't seem to like it."

I thought P'Wayu would be unhappy, but it turned out that he was laughing out loud.

"Hahaha. I knew it!" Looks like it was very hilarious for him.

"Damn! I really wanna see his face. Next time, don't forget to take a photo."

    Next time? Seriously?

"Well, about the one who leaked the photos. I heard P'Kwang already found the culprit." P'Wayu said.

"Really? Who?" I was very curious. Since that person had a lot of my photos, he or she was probably very close to me. That person must be a student in my university.

"I heard that he is your friend."

"My friend?" I was shocked. Were there any of my friends who disliked me that much?

"At first, P'Kwang planned to prosecute. But after finding out that he's just a student, P'Kwang didn't want it to blow over. He didn't want to ruin that student's life because that may ruin the company's image. And that student is your friend too. Oh, I heard P'Kwang also discussed with your lecturer...what's his name again? Chana? Yeah, so if this problem can end with a settlement, it'll be the best for everyone. Why don't you ask your lecturer about it?" P'Wayu explained.

"Alright, thank you so much." Knowing that P'Kwang had found the culprit, I was relieved. But I was still worried because P'Wayu said that he was my friend.

"Well...how did P'Kwang find the culprit?" I couldn't help but ask. Since it didn't take so long, it seemed like P'Kwang had an incredible support team.

"P'Kwang's boyfriend did it." P'Wayu grinned.

"His boyfriend is the best at IT. Nothing in the digital world can hide from him."

"Oh! P'Kwang's boyfriend." I exclaimed softly, so P'Kwang's partner was really a male.

"Yep! That's it. I gotta go now. Tomorrow I need to wake up early. Bubye." He said goodbye with a smile.

    "Bye bye."

P'Wayu already left. But what he had just told me lingered.

Someone was trying to ruin my and P'In's reputation — was my friend and he disliked me.

I was trying to figure out if I had ever made someone hate me before...

    Or could it be...

    "Don't tell me..."

When I managed to think of one person, I had such a bad feeling about this.

But it might not be him.

    I could only hope so.

The next morning, Mr. Chana told me to come to his office. I was surprised to find another student already there as well.

    It was Boss.

I felt so uncomfortable. I was afraid that what I thought would be true.

"Sawaddee krub, Mr. Chana." I raised my hands to pay respect, and sat next to Boss, nervously.

Mr. Chana went straight to the point.

"Bodin, Archawin, you two are good friends, aren't you? Then why did you do this, Bodin? Any reasons? Tell me."

What the teacher said confirmed my guess.

Boss was the one who leaked those photos. Really?

"I just shared what I saw." Boss said without guilt.

I was so shocked to hear this. His expression right now was really cold. He wasn't like the friendly guy that I had known.

"But Archawin is your friend. How could you think that what you did was right?" Mr. Chana disliked how he reacted, obviously.

"Well, was it fair when you selected the Moon candidate?" Boss asked back.

"It was so obvious that P'In intended to select Win in the first place. Then why did we still need a competition?"

I was so hurt by what he said. Actually, I had been afraid he would think that way since I was selected. But he just congratulated me and talked to me as usual. I had no idea that his friendly smile was all fake, that he hated me so much for it.

I was both shocked and sad.

"I already gave you an explanation." Mr. Chana said. "I'm gonna tell you again. In that competition. Do you really think your answer was better than Archawin's answer? Yours was so common, just like any other candidate. If you're a judge, would you still choose yourself?"

Boss stood still, not saying a thing.

"Anyway," Mr. Chana continued. "Your post was deleted. I don't want to make it an issue. But keep in mind, Bodin. PD Kwang and I helped you this time. Otherwise, If MW plans to sue you, how could you defend yourself? This time, MW lets you go easily, but don't ever think there would be a second time. Understood?"

Boss and I didn't even dare to say a word.

"If there is nothing else, you can go." Mr. Chana excused us.

"Thank you, Mr. Chana." We both raised our hands to pay respect and left his office.

As soon as we went out, Boss didn't even look at me, he only rushed out. I had to quickly run after him.

"Hey! Boss! Boss!" I called his name so many times until he stopped and turned back to me, coldly.

    "What?" He asked tersely.

"I'm sorry," I said. "I didn't know that I made you feel bad. I'm really sorry!"

    Boss fell silent.

"Win, you already got everything you wanted. You're the UNISTAR finalist, and that rumour was already solved. We don't need to talk about this again."

Boss apparently didn't want to talk to me. He was trying to leave in a hurry, but I stopped him.

"Boss, please, don't be like this," I begged him.

"I want to be your friend. Did you know? The first day I came here, I didn't even have a friend, but you were the first person who talked to me. You could recognise me. That made me very happy. So, can we still be friends?"

Boss frowned, he looked at me with doubt.

"You're weird. I was trying to ruin your life before and you still want to be friends with me?"

"I understand your feelings. It's okay. I can forgive you."

    His expression shifted a bit.

"It wasn't your fault." I explained to him.

"I never thought that I would become the Moon as well. I admire you so much. You're very good at everything, good-looking, good at sports, good at socialising with people. I can't even do what you can."

    I paused and continued.

"I know, you think I don't deserve to be the Moon. I think so too. I think you're more suitable."

His expression visibly became more relaxed.

"It's not like that." He said. "Your attitude and mindset are way better than mine. That's why you were chosen."

"But you want to be the Moon, right? You also want to be a UNISTAR too, right?" I asked.

"Why not?" Boss didn't hide it.

    "Well, right." I continued.

"Then, why do you want to be a UNISTAR?"

"Fame, money, reputation, who in the world doesn't want these?" He said outright.

    "I see." I nodded.

"I want to be one too, but for a different reason."

    I sighed.

"Perhaps, what you posted on twitter is actually the truth."

    He seemed confused.

"But It's not P'In's fault. It was me all along. I want to be the Moon, I want to be a UNISTAR..." I said sadly.

"Because I...want to be with P'In."

    Boss widened his eyes.

"Yes, what you suspected is true. I like P'In."

"Wait...What? Is that true?" Boss was shocked.

"Yes. I've been falling for P'In, but he didn't like me that way." I almost cried when we talked about this.

"I'm a male, but I like a male too. It's hilarious, don't you think? But I can't help it. P'In is so good to me. How could I think that way? I'm the worst person in the world."

Boss was stunned as I was almost crying.

"Wait...about that post..." Boss tried to explain. "Actually, I already knew that you and P'In weren't dating."

    Boss said awkwardly.

"I intended to leak a fake rumour. I was upset because I felt like the competition wasn't fair. You two are so close to each other. I saw you visit his dorm and you ran out for him. I followed you and secretly took those photos. I just wanted to find the faults in what both of you do. I thought that you were selected as the Moon because of P'In. If P'In wasn't supporting you, how could you win? I just thought that it was unfair. But...I never thought it would be your true feelings."

"I get it. It's not your fault." I felt so miserable.

"But that feeling is just a one-sided crush. It's okay if I were criticised by society, but I don't want P'In to be involved. He didn't do anything wrong. It's only me."

"I'm sorry, really sorry," Boss looked remorseful. "For everything. I misunderstood you. I know why I didn't deserve to be the Moon. I'm just overestimating myself."

"Never mind. I understand. I'm sorry too." I said sincerely.

"Thanks!" Boss said lightly. "But I really don't understand. I did such a bad thing to you. Why are you not mad at me?"

"Because you're my friend," I said.

"This kind of thing could happen between friends, right? But if we open up to each other, I believe our friendship is going to be stronger."

"You're so optimistic." He said. "It makes me feel like I'm such a bad person."

"No. You are not, at all." I smiled.

"Well..." He looked at me, contemplating.

    "You're really cute, actually."

"Huh? Cute?" I blinked. What did he mean by that?

    "What are you doing?"

Suddenly, I heard a familiar voice from behind. I flinched.

"P'In...!" I was surprised as he was heading here.

"Buddy-code or hubby...? Seriously!" Boss murmured and sighed.

P'In was staring at Boss, his expression void of emotions.

"Alright. I gotta go now. See you later." Boss waved his hand.

"Oh, you're going now?" I didn't understand why he wanted to leave so suddenly.

"Yeah." Boss said. "Oh, I think you're misunderstanding something."

Boss glanced at P'In, then he looked at me and continued.

    "Don't underestimate yourself, bye."

"Huh?" I had no idea what he was talking about, but he just left without any further explanation.

"What were you talking about?" P'In asked.

"Oh..." I felt a bit awkward as P'In was so close to me. So, I avoided his eye contact.

"About the leaked photo. But we already made up. I forgave him and he understands me now. So I hope you can forgive him too. He had his own reasons. We can still be friends."

"Okay." P'In nodded. "If you say so."

"Really? Thank you P'In!" I was so relieved that P'In was willing to forgive Boss.

"Yes, but..." P'In looked at me.

    "Just a friend, okay?"

"Huh?" I exclaimed. He said 'friend' right? Why did he need to emphasise it again?

P'In tilted his head, still looking at me. He seemingly realised that I was confused, but he didn't even explain. He just touched my head softly.

I blinked, feeling so surprised to be patted by him. It was such a warm touch.

    "Fighting!"

P'In said lightly before taking his hand back and leaving.

I kept looking at him until he disappeared from my sight.

Although both of us were only senior and junior, those few words and slight touch could make my heart fly.

"Thank you, P'In." I whispered even though P'In couldn't hear it.
