The sky was
blue, and the trees were finally green after a long winter.
Louis had
been busy at work at his place, but he was finally able to make some time to
come to the castle.
Louis
"I missed you, Float."
He smiled
happily and took my hand as soon as he saw me.
Float
"I missed you, too. Are you
finished with all of your duties about the estate?"
Louis
"I just have to go and report
it, and then I'll be finished. I'll go do that first, so see in your room?"
I nodded.
Louis looked like a lost puppy for a second before he left to go give his
report.
(Louis looked
a bit tired. He must be exhausted after all the work he's been doing this past
month.)
I walked down
the corridor, trying to think of a way to help him relieve some of his fatigue,
when I ran into Sid.
Sid
"Why, ain't it the princess.
Ya look like the world's ending soon. Is it?"
He was
smirking as usual, and I gave him an exasperated stare.
Float
"What if I said it was?"
Sid waved my
words off, leaning lazily against the wall.
Sid
"It'd be too bad then, since
Giles just told me that you got some rare tea leaves as a gift."
(Oh, yeah. I
forgot about that. Maybe Louis would be able to relax by drinking some of that
tea together? The aristocrat that gave it to me did say this type of tea had a
calming effect.)
Thanking Sid,
I quickly headed towards the kitchen.
Float
"...Sid? Why are you
following me?"
I had tried
to ignore him, but finally got annoyed of him following me around the kitchen.
The tea
leaves inside the tea pot were giving off a sweet, calming scent.
Sid
"Because it looked
entertaining. And I also wanted to try this rare tea."
(Well, I
suppose he was the one that helped me remember about the tea.)
Float
"Fine. Here."
I poured him
a cup. Sid was looking towards the entrance, but he turned his attention back
on the cup before him.
His eyes were
sparkling with an emotion I didn't quite like.
Sid
"My hands are dirty. I
shouldn't be touchin' royal cups, should I? Help me drink it."
Float
"You've GOT to be kidding
me."
(He's just
teasing me. I know it. And I also know he's not going to give up until I do as
he asks.)
I wanted to
hurry back to my room to meet Louis, so I grabbed the tea cup and brought it up
to Sid's lips.
But thenー
Louis
"What are you doing?"
I whipped
around, hearing Louis's voice from the entrance.
Louis's face
didn't betray any emotion, but his voice had lacked any warmth.
(I'm going to
kill Sid...)
Float
"Umm, well..."
My voice
slightly trembled with panic, and Sid did nothing to help as he put an arm
around my shoulder.
Sid
"We were just about to drink
tea together. Isn't that obvious? You're interrupting us. Ain't that right,
Princess?"
Louis
"..."
Sid threw a
challenging smirk towards Louis before suddenly looking into my eyes.
(What in the
world is Sid thinking?)
I stared
right back at Sid, trying hard to understand him, when his eyes flickered to
Louis again.
I followed
his gaze, and saw Louis's expression go cold.
Louis
"I see. If that's what you
want, I won't say no."
He looked at
me coldly and turned on his heels.
Float
"Wait, Louis! Don't go!"
I pulled free
from Sid's grasp and grabbed Louis's arm.
Louis
"Float?"
Float
"I prepared the tea for you!
Not Sid!"
I blurted.
Louis's eyes slowly widened.
Louis
"For me?"
Float
"I wanted to help you relax.
Sid was just teasing like he usually does. You know he doesn't have a
life."
Louis
"Oh, right. ...I'm sorry. I
saw you two together and I just couldn't think straight."
Float
"Did you really think I'd
fall for Sid?"
I was
relieved and shocked at the same time, but Louis made me quickly forget by
bringing me into a tight embrace.
Sid
"You realize I can still hear
ya?"
I ignored the
comment and raised my head slightly to see that Louis was glaring at Sid. His
hold on me tightened even more, and the hug felt almost possessive.
My heart beat
loudly against my chest, excited to see this new side of Louis.
Sid
"You seriously must be tired
to actually have been jealous of me though. But better keep her close. I ain't
gonna be so nice next time."
Louis
"There'll be no 'next'
time."
Sid walked
out the kitchen, giving Louis a suggestive smirk before he left.
Once we were
alone, Louis let go of me and apologized.
Louis
"I'm really sorry. I trust
you and I know you wouldn't betray me, but... I don't know what was wrong with
me. I've never lost control of my emotions before I met you, you know."
Louis smiled
sadly, putting a strand of my hair behind my ear.
Float
"I'm actually kind of happy
to hear that."
Louis's smile
turned into a happy one after hearing my response.
Louis
"If you accept my apology,
can I have the tea that you've prepared?"
Float
"Of course."
I took the
tray of the tea pot and tea cups, and we walked back to my room. I poured our
tea, and Louis put out some scones.
Louis
"I also wanted to have tea
with you today. I knew you were working hard and thought you might want
something sweet."
(Louis's much busier than I am, and yet he was worried about me?)
I smiled, secretly thanking Sid just a little for making Louis jealous.
Float
"You're always so
considerate. And that's one of the reasons I love you so much."
Louis
"I could say the same thing
back at you."
We both
grinned at each other, basking in the sweet scent of tea and the happiness of
being with each other...
