Chapter 3: Best friend, Boyfriend
Minuk came to visit Ujin at her office
“Ujin nowadays seem you haven’t free time”
“I have a lots of work”
“don’t work too hard. You’re making me worry”
“sorry but don’t worry about me … Minuk”
“ah! And why you always don’t stay at your home inthe evening”
“ahhh … I go out with Yun Joohwan”
“Yun Joohwan? What do you do with doctor Joohwan?” Minuk asked by confusing voice.
“nothing important. Forget it”
“no … tell me I can’t forget it”
“just do funny things”
“why do you go with the doctor instead of me?”
“I don’t want to annoy you. I think you have many works”
“but.. you did sameas he is more important than me……. It Seemed you forget that I’m your boyfriend” Minuk felt bad.
“hey! I don’t forget... you’re my boyfriend. So I don’t want to make you tired. Don’t misunderstand. You know me for along time. You don’t know who wins in my heart?”
“I know……. I know I hold some spaces in your heart but I’m not sure ……. Am I the one hold all spaces?”
“Minuk” Ujin raised her voice with serious.
“why do you raise your voice? Maybe my guess is true, right?”
After Minuk’s word. Ujin hadsighed before said with earnest.
“okay…. Minuk if you want to know I will tell you….. your guess is right” Although she didn’t want to talk about it but when he wanted to know and she didn’t want to lie especially with her lover. She hated a lie and couldn’t bear if she was lied.
After Minuk had heard,his eyes went red.
“but don’t worry Minuk” Ujin wanted to make him feel better.
“I’ve ever seen him in 11 years ago. Then I never see him again” Minuk showed he didn’t understand by his manner. So Ujin explained more.
“the man used to help me in 11 years ago and this is his handkerchief” Ujin showed the handkerchief to Minuk.
Minuk changed his mood rapidly after he had seen the handkerchief. He smiled to Ujin and began said something to her.
“I don’t think the girl in 11 years ago will keep it till nowadays” finished the word of Minuk nothing is happened in the room except two smiles on two faces. One smile because she met someone she wanted to meet always 11-year later. And one smile because he would occupy all space in her heart.

At Minuk’s room
He was calling to someone
“find a good detective for me………….. I want to know what does Ujin do in everyday and who is go together with her”

Ujin went to saw doctor Yun Joohwan.
“today you look so happy Ujin… maybe we can stop a cure”Joohwan said half jokingly.
“yeah today I don’t want to get therapy….anyway are you busy?”
“no…I’m free”
“good ^^……. Please go to somewhere with me”
“where???”
“funny land”
“why???”
“please don’t ask me why. But you should say yes to make me happy. That’s good for your therapy….. right?”
“yes …. Right .. so I will go with you”

At funny land
Ujin and Joohwan strolled and played amusement like children.
Long time passed. They wanted to go back. During they walked back Ujin stopped her step promptly.
“what’s happened?” Joohwan asked half seriously.
“get rest here for a few minutes doctor” Ujin said.
“ok…” they sat on a bench on roadside.
Joohwan looked around and said.
“you know? I’ve ever come here before……….. 11- year ago ……… a little girl bumped with me here. She fell down and had a bleeding wound on her knee. ………. So I gave my handkerchief to her for wiping her blood” Joohwan told with happy voice.
“do you remember her?” Ujin asked with softly sound.
“sure…. She’s a lovely girl. I like her eyes it’s like twinkle star” Joohwan said and closed his eyes to imagine to the girl.
“we should go back” Ujin said after quieted in a few minute.
“how are you? Or …. Migraine relapses?” Joohwan asked with seriously because after he opened his eyes he saw Ujin was crying.
“I feel not well……… take me home please” Ujin replied with shaking sound.
Joohwan took Ujin to her mansion. During the way Ujin always cried and stared at Joohwan like shemissed him, wanted to meet him and afraid he would disappear. But Joohwan didn’t notice.

At Kim’s family mansion
The detective gave many pictures of Ujin and Joohwan at funny land to Minuk.
~RRRRRR~ while he was watching those pictures his phone rang.
“Minuk…. I’m Ujin”
“yeah…. Do you have anything with me?”
“I want to go out with you”
“ok I will be going to receive you ….. bye”
“bye”
Finished the furious line Minuk had given some cruel order to his subordinate before went out.
“teach Yun Joohwan to know he shouldn’t concern with my Ujin”

In a flash. Sport car arrived at Lee’s family mansion.
“why are you driving so fast. You don’t know it harm,do you?”
“I know but I really miss you and want to see your face quickly” Minuk said and showed glad gesture. But in his mind he so angry.
“where are you want to go my love?”
“funny land”
“why do you want to go there?” Minuk confused
“I have a reason… please take me there”
“okay…”

When arriving at funny land Ujin pretended smiled and talked to Minuk with sweet sound.
“Minuk …. Do you remember where you gave the handkerchief to me?”
“ah! It’s passed for a long time I forget it now” Minuk replied with startled.
“I see … it’s long time passed” sadly sound from Ujin.
“Ujin.. I can’t remember something in the past but now I love you and I don’t forget you forever” Minuk wanted to cheer her up
“so… do you remember why you gave your handkerchief to me? ”
“not talk to something in the past dear. It’s not important” Minuk equivocated.
Ujin couldn’t continued her pretended. Her smile disappeared and was replaced by the sullen mood and stream of tears. Then she began her word.
“you can’t answer me cos you aren’t the boy who’s the owner of the handkerchief ” her voice so suffered.
“no….. I …but….. but……. I forget it” he stammered.
Ujin gazed him with reprovable eyesight. Her lips became stretch line.
“look at me … Minuk…….. look into my eyes. Do you remember I hate a lie” her tears still fell but she said to him with a decisive voice.
Minuk looked at her face slowly. Her face and eyes had gone red. He couldn’t make her sad more.
“sorry Ujin ….. I lie you …….but………but …. I just want to be the one in your heart” Minuk confessed with ashamed.
“why did you do the bad thing?” she scolded while her body trembled.
“sorry………so sorry …. Ujin” he held her in his arm. He cried same she cried. Their Crying like sound of gloomy song was playing in their heart.
“give me a chance” Minuk asked and kissed her hair softly.
“Minuk…… I love you so much. I can give you only one chance……. If you lie me again…. I think…. I can’t bear…….i want you to know……………I love you very much…. So …… when…… I hate you…..it will be very much too…… don’t forget it” finished her word Ujin threw herself off his arm and went back to car.

Minuk took Ujin to her home. Nothing’s happened during the way. Till the sport car arrived at Ujin’s mansion.
“at noon tomorrow I will pick up you to have lunch” Minuk said softly like he worried about her answer.
“ok…….. I will forget this event” Ujin said with weak voice. Maybe her heart wanted a time to rest.
Minuk went back to his mansion. He felt worried instead of gladded that Ujin forgave him.

After Minuk left already. Ujin drove a luxurious car to Joohwan’s home. During the way she always thought of Joohwan and said with herself.
“I don’t understand my mind. Why I miss the doctor when I feel bad. My lover is Minuk but I don’t want to meet him in a bad time. When I see the doctor all my pain will disappear. When I touch hand of doctor I feel so warm. Especially when he turns his back on me. I want to stop his step, want to ask him doesn’t go but I never do it. Same in 11-year ago I didn’t stop him but I released him went. Although I wanted to know his name, wanted to say something to him. But in fact I only looked at him since his first pace till he lost from my eyesight”

“Ah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” Ujin shouted because she hastily stopped her car. A man was lying on heap of blood. His body full of bleeding wound. Ujin got out her car and ran to see the man.
Just only saw his back. Ujin reminded suddenly. He was……………… the boy who helped her in 11-year ago. Who she felt good when she saw. Maybe…………… her heart…………. was not her but…………… it was……….. his own.
“doctor! doctor! doctor! doctor! ” Ujin called him many times.
He only winked his eyes slowly. Ujin pulled the handkerchief out to wipe blood on his face. Although Joohwan had less consciousness but he could know what were Ujin doing and suddenly he knew that Ujin is the girl who he gave his handkerchief. And knew……………. Not only his handkerchief but also his heart……………. was her own.
Ujin took him to hospital. He was unconscious. Ujin always looked after him. She sat near his bed till she fell asleep.

Next moring
“wake up Ujin” Joohwan said by weak voice.
“ah! How are you?” Ujin didn’t worry about herself but worried about him.
“thank… you……. I don’t think……… you will keep the……… handkerchief………… always” he said like whisper.
“what?....you know……….. the handkerchief ?”
“I saw you used it last night”
“ohhh I see”
“Ujin………. The handkerchief……….is……mine”Joohwan told by tired voice.
“yeah……… I know” she nodded her head.
“what!!!!!” Joohwan had confused gesture.
“I know the handkerchief is your own since we had gone to funny land together”
“I see , why………… you keep…… it till…. nowadays?” Joohwan hurt his wound but he tried to say.
“it’s important for me………..the boy is my impression”
“Ujin…………….. you know? What the boy feel with you?”he spoke softly and slowly.
“I don’t”
“he like the little girl. He feels her so lovely. He want to protect her and don’t want to see her tears” patient Joohwan tried to told her.
Ujin felt her heart quaking.
“I must be going to work now” Ujin said farewell but weak patient used all of his remain force grabbed her hand to stop her step. Ujin turned her face on him again. Joohwan grabbed tighter and looked into her eyes. He used his eyes to tell her……………. please believed in the thing he would say.
“ Ujin I know well you have Minuk in your heart. Ihad forced my mind so that I won’t be thinking ofyou but…………………. I can’t. I won’t beg anything from you. Although you will hate me…………. after I said but ………….I want you to know when you sick, when you sad, when you cry. Please……………… tell me ….I will look after you……………… as an ordinary doctor…………………….. not more” he showed everything he wanted to her.
“sure …. You are my best doctor” she had consented before left.
When Ujin departed. Joohwan said with his mind before had an unconsciousness again because thewounds toxic.
“thank Ujin ….. I will use all my ablility to cure your pain. When you feel good all your body and heart. I will send you back to the man who own of you”
Ujin went to her office. During the way she said to herself.
“thank you doctor. Thank for you want to Take care me same the first time we met”

12.oo am. Ujin and Minuk were having lunch together as if they never quarreled before.

3-week later
Ujin visited Minuk at his office. But she saw Minuk was talking with a group of hooligan.
After the group of hooligan had left Ujin came into Minuk’s room.
“why do you concern with the hooligan?”
“nothing important ……….. forget it” he said like didn’t want her to know.
“no.. no… I can’t forget it …………tell me what are you doing?” Ujin had a serious voice.
“I’m falling in love with you” Minuk said half jokingly.
“It’s not time to joke …. Tell me the truth… what are you conceal me?” Ujin was seriousing.
“I have nothing conceal you” Minuk replied with seriousness.
“you lie me ” Ujin yelled.
Suddenly the word lie went to his heart. Minuk raised his hand to cover his face. Now he knew he was lying her one thing.
“sorry……… Ujin” he said with sad voice. He didn’t want to lie her. But one thing that Ujin wanted to know it……………… bad.
If she really wanted to know. ………………………… He would tell her.
“I ….. I …… employ them to harm Yun Joohwan”
“why did you do the worst thing?” she asked with furious voice.
“I’m jealous Yun Joohwan….he always better than me……” Minuk told the truth.
His fault was he did the worst thing but……………. Ujin and Yun Joohwan had their fault too. It was……… they go together like …………..the lover.
Much of tears flooded Ujin’s eyes because she was lied again, her lover did the worst thing, Minuk didn’t believe in her love and ……………………..Joohwan was harmed because of her.
“Minuk…. You make me so suffer…….you lie me again……the last of your chance……….” Ujin couldn’t finish her word completely because Minuk interrupted.
“I know ……. Now.. I lose the last change. Sorry … Ujin I can’t good enough ……………………..for you”
Minuk departed promptly. Left Ujin only one in the room.
Immediately he turned his back on Ujin. Lots of tears flooded his eyes. It fell like stream on his face. He tried to walk out from the room. Each step seemed too hard. He paced step by step very slowy. He paced…………………………….paced………………………………… paced……………………..and …………paced…………………… till he standed in front of his car. His force was going to empty and then he fell down on his knees.
Now he had no energy to do anything. He cried and cried. Without noticed everything around him.
Ujin didn’t have him in her eyes that like he wasworthless.
How many people can understand him? He did everything for his lover. He left from Ujin without require anything because he knew if he didn’t leave and stayed in the room with Ujin it would make Ujin pain more. He knew he had no way……………………………….. to get a forgiveness from Ujin again.

Ujin cried……..cried………….and cried. Till she couldn’t cry more………….
Immediately she took herself went out of the room and drove her car to Joohwan’s home.
She couldn’t answer herself why she wanted to go there. But…………. she really wanted.

Joohwan’s home
“Ujin!!! What…..” Joohwan couldn’t end his word because the lady in front of him ran to him and burried her face in his chest.
Ujin released her tears again. Stream of tears fell on his chest.
She held him in her arm like he is the only one she could count on.
Joohwan did nothing. He still stood with her. his mouth said nothing but his heart was comforting her.
~ RRRRRRR~ Joohwan’s phone rang.
Ujin went out because she didn’t want to interrupt.
“hello”
“doctor…..i’m Minuk” suddenly Joohwan heard this name. he felt angry. Minuk was the reason thatmade Ujin cry. Joohwan completely sure.
“I and Ujin we are saperated” Minuk told with furious voice.
“Mr. Kim Minuk.. you know? how much Ujin cried?” Joohwan grined his teeth.
“she cried cos she angries me…………………………….
in fact I should angry instead of her ………………… doctor.. Yun Joohwan I hate you……….. you snatch Ujin from me ” Minuk shouted angrily.
“you are misunderstanding!! I never do it” Joohwan tried to explain.
“don’t say anything I can’t believe you” Minuk raised his voice.
“please trust me….. Ujin came to see me cos she must have a therapy. She didn’t want to make anyone worried. So she didn’t tell you” finished the word of Joohwan. Minuk still quiet.
Seem like he know…… he misunderstood Ujin. Now he knew …. It’s all his fault only……….. really……….
“but….. she happy when she stays with you…….. more than……….. doctor and patient ” Minuk said with calm sound.
“Mr. Kim Minuk….. you are the lover of Ujin ……she cries so much for you” Joohwan said with sad voice.
“no…. now………. I…. can’t………. be. I did the worst thing…… that…..that…………….….. she can’t forgive me…..please…… if …… Ujin chooses… you… take care her for me… I can’t do it by myself…………don’t lie her, don’t make her cry……………………..if you make her pain I will get her back….. ” finished last word Minuk cut his line immediately.
Joohwan turned back to Ujin but she disappeared.

Ujin drove her car to airport after she received message from Minuk.
“so sorry that I lied you but I did everything cos I love you… Ujin. I know I have no chance again. Sorry………..in the future… I can’t have lunch with you, can’t take care. I’m going to go to San Francisco. I will go away from you. If I still live here I afraid….. I can’t repair my pain heart. But I want you to know I love you….. forever”

At airport
Ujin had looked at schedule for sought the flight to San Francisco before ran to the gate.
“Minuk! … please don’t go” Ujin asked when saw him.
She didn’t want him to go.she didn’t know why but she cried and felt she was losing something important.
“don’t cry my love” Minuk tried to smiled and raised his hand to wipe her tears.
“ I forgive you…….please ……don’t go” she asked again with sobbing
“although you forgive me..but…. I can’t forgive my self” Minuk tried to say with shaking sound.
Ujin hug Minuk tightly she cried on his chest. Minuk caressed her hair softly.
“don’t cry my dear….and …let me go…. Let me suffer alone and you must have happy life…. Forget thelying man like me……” Minuk forced his tears didn’t fall.
“no……please ……… don’t go..if you go……what should I do……..with my life….” Ujin still sobbed.
“ask and listen to your heart. It will tell you what do you want. …………………. I must be going now..”
Minuk kissed her. His heart was wishing her.
When Minuk left, Ujin sit on her knees. She cried and looked Minuk left till disappeared from her eyesight.
Minuk couldn’t force his tears then he cried like he was dying. His heart was telling farewell to Ujin.
“Ujin….. you taught me to know something called ‘love’ you gave me the best thing. Thank for every thing.i hope you will meet someone better than me…… good bye …..my love…….”

Ujin went back home as tired. She wanted to rest. While she was lying on her bed her phone rang.
“hello”
“Ujin!! Where are you?” Joohwan asked seriously.
“my home” she replied slowly.
“why your voice so bad?” Joohwan concerned.
Ujin told about event at airport to Joohwan. She told and cried together.
After that she fell as sleep without noticed she had 67 miss calls from Joohwan.

After the day. Joohwan never met Ujin again. He couldn’t get in touch with her.but Joohwan tried to send messages to her everyday although she never replied.
Joohwan went to funny land everyday. He always sat on the bench that he and Ujin sat together. He was missing her.
“Ujin … where are you…..please come back to me…….you had stolen my heart…… please come back before my body without my soul will die”
