Story 3
It wasn’t me.
I didn’t do anything. He was
already there, lying beside the wall. I thought he was just another junkie,
getting high or something. I didn’t know he was dead.
He was always there.
I’m just a busboy at the Maisies.
That night, I was at work. You can ask anyone at the Maisies, they all saw me
working that night. I have an alibi.
I usually take out the garbage
around 2 am. I didn’t see anyone that night.
No. No. It’s not that I’ve been
seeing someone every night. How could you even jump into that conclusion? I
just said that I did not see anyone else, except the junkie, and no, I didn’t
see the other homeless guy either.
What shadow? I didn’t see any
shadow.
I’ve been working at the Maisies
for almost 2 years. There hasn’t been anything unusual. I’ve never seen any
murder, or known anything about any of that. I work here because the pay is
good, and I need money to finish high school.
What’re you doing? That’s my
bag! Stop it! You can't just go through people's stuff! Give it back!
These are just my school books.
It’s nothing. I said it’s nothing! I’m not being bullied! The books are like
that because—because I dropped them in the toilet, accidentally. Yeah,
including my phone. I’m sorry, but what does this have anything to do with the
murder? If it doesn’t, can we please just drop it? It’s none of your business.
What do you mean no one had seen
me working that night? I was there! What about that homeless guy? He did say
that he saw me, right? You see? It’s not a lie! He saw me!
And the dead guy was always
there!
What do you mean no one else had
seen him except me? If the homeless guy had seen me, he'd definitely seen that
dead guy too. His body was right beside the back door when I was taking out the
garbage.
I’m telling you the truth. Why won’t

I’m not a child! I know what I
saw! It was him, the dead guy! He was there all that time!
No. No. Aren’t you done with the
bag? There’s nothing in there! Stop it! I said stop!
I’m not hiding anything. These
are just blood bags. I didn’t steal them, okay? Yeah, they’re all mine, so
what? I’ve been selling my blood to the black markets to get more money. I know
I said that the Maisies pays well, but I never said that it was enough, did I?
I didn’t do this because I
wanted to, but because I had no other choices.
