The King’s Club Restaurant is and was well known for its delicious menu, but now, it is also well known for the death of two victims—Thomas and Claire Murray.  The police line was placed around the two dead bodies.  The first body was a male Caucasian, Thomas Murray.  The second was his daughter, Claire.  Both victims have one thing in common, they were dead.

Bobby Bigs and Michelle Vernic were the first to arrive.  Patrick did not come, but instead, he was having an interrogation with Bridget Murray, Thomas’ daughter and Claire’s older sister.

The two crime scene investigators got to the first body, Mr. Murray.  There was blood all over and the bullet they were looking for was still in the man’s head.  “Nasty,” said Michelle.  Bobby took out his camera and began taking pictures of the dead man.  “Here’s another hole,” said Bobby as he pointed at the man’s chest.  “Very nasty,” replied Michelle.  Bobby turned and looked at Claire, the second victim.  “Looks like one shot to this one,” said Bobby, “One bullet through the heart.”  “Defensive wounds,” said Michelle, “She had a fight before she died.”

“Did I miss anything?” asked Patrick.  He walked straight towards Bobby and Michelle.  He continued, “Bridget Murray doesn’t seem to know anything.  I don’t think we’re going to get much from her.”  Bobby replied, “We need Norton to do an autopsy on the two bodies.  Maybe he can give us a timeline of the whole story.”  “Yeah, I’ll page him,” replied Patrick as he took his pager out.  “Brian paged me, I wonder what he wants,” said Patrick, looking at his pager, “You guys wait here, I’m going to go out and call Brian.”  Patrick left the place.

“Yeah Brian, what do you need?” asked Patrick, holding his cell phone to his ears.  “Patrick, did you say our victims are Thomas and Claire Murray?”  “Yeah, why?” answered Patrick.  “I’m sitting in the lab next to Ted right now,” answered Brian. “Hey! Pat!  What’s up!” said Ted who took Brian’s cell phone from his hand.  “Hey Ted,” replied Patrick.  “I’ve made a search on them both,” said Brian, “No criminal records at all.”  “Then we know that our victims are the good guys,” replied Patrick, “Brian, search also for Bridget Murray.”  “Yeah sure,” answered Brian, “One second.”

“Hmm,” said Brian, “No criminal records too.”  “Oh yeah?” said Patrick.  “But her boyfriend has one,” replied Brian, “Brett Miller, caught for robbery, last year… Now this is interesting.  It shows here that he was released a few days ago.  That would be before the victims were killed.”  “Good information you got,” replied Patrick, “Keep searching for information on our guy, Miller.”

“Hey Pat!” Bobby started, “Did you call Norton yet?”  “Doing that right now, Bob,” Patrick replied.  “Hey, I got something,” Michelle said out loud, “Looks like hair to me.”  “Need any help?” asked Bobby.  “Nah, I got the tweezers,” Michelle replied as she picked the hair up with the tweezers, “Looks black… and short.”  “Sorry I’m late, guys,” said Heather as she walked in, “Traffic was terrible.”  “It was clear when I came in,” said Patrick.  Heather walked to the dead bodies and kneeled down.

“Sign of struggle,” said Heather.  “We’ve already been through that, Heather,” replied Bobby.  “Oh,” uttered Heather.  “Blood,” said Heather.  “What makes you think it’s not our victim’s blood?” asked Michelle.  “It’s far from the others and there’s only one drop here,” replied Heather.  “I’ll swab it,” said Heather.

“I’ll get it back to the lab,” said Heather, “Along with the other pieces of evidence.”  “Thanks,” said Bobby, “Give them to Ted.”   On Heather’s way out, she saw Christian Norton coming in.  “Hi,” she said.  “I’m here to take the body,” said Christian.  “Be my guest,” said Heather as she left.

“Nothing’s much about the blood,” said Ted.  “It belongs to our second victim, Claire.”  “Really?” asked Heather.  “Yes,” answered Ted, “Maybe Christian can tell you where it comes from.”  “What about the hair?” Heather asked.  “Don’t be shocked, but it matches our guy Brett Miller perfectly,” answered Ted.  “Then we know that he was at the crime scene,” said Heather, “Thanks, Ted.”

Brian walked pass Heather, who was heading to Patrick’s office.  “Hey!  What’s going on?” asked Brian.  “We know now that Brett Miller was at the crime scene the day our victims were killed,” said Heather.  “Let me guess,” Brian said, “DNA matches?”  “No, but the hair does,” answered Heather.  “This guy has a criminal record,” said Brian, “And his hair we got last year matches the hair at the crime scene.”  “Yes,” said Heather.  “However, it doesn’t tell us that he killed our victims,” replied Brian, “Good job, though.  Find some more pieces of evidence linking this suspect to the crime scene.”

Michelle and Bobby, who were still at the crime scene, were looking for any pieces of evidence.  Though, there was nothing new.  They found a piece of glass on the floor, though.  After a few hours, they decided to go back and give Ted the piece of glass.

“Can’t tell you much,” said Ted, “This is nothing.”  “It’s a piece of glass, Ted,” replied Bobby, “It must be something.”  “Amorphous solid, heated sand, soda and lime, then super-cooled, but that’s not about the case,” said Ted, “But I’m pretty sure it’s from eyeglasses.”  “Doesn’t tell us much,” said Bobby, “Let’s see if our guy Miller wear broken glasses.”  Bobby left the lab.

“Patrick!” called Michelle.  “Yeah?” replied Patrick, who was working in his office.  “I need the address of Brett Miller,” said Michelle.  “Let me see your case file,” replied Patrick.  Michelle handed Patrick the case file, then waited a while for Patrick to finish reading it.  Finally, Patrick said, “If the eyeglasses match with his, I’ll give you a warrant.  For now, I can give you just the address.”  Patrick searched for Brett Miller’s house address, and finally, he said, “Got it.  Brett lives at uh…

    Ninety-six Industrial Street
.” “Thanks a lot,” said Michelle.  “You’re welcome,” replied Patrick as he got back to work.

Michelle went to Brett’s house.  She knocked the door and a man came out.  “Michelle Vernic,” said Michelle, “Crime Lab.”  “You alone, babe?” said Brett.  “No!” answered Bobby, “She’s with me.”  “Oh,” Brett said as he slammed the door towards them.  Michelle tried knocking the door again.  “What do you guys want!?” said Brett loudly.  “We need answers,” replied Bobby.

Brett invited them in, and then they sat down around a table.  Brett began, “What do you guys need?”  “Do you know Thomas Murray?” asked Bobby.  “Yeah, I know him.  He’s my girlfriend’s father.  Hate that guy, always interfere with his daughters’ personal businesses,” answered Brett, “But if you think I killed him, you’re wrong.”  “Where were you last night?” asked Michelle.  “Home,” Brett replied.  “So how did your hair appear to be at the crime scene?” asked Bobby.  “How do you it’s my hair?” Brett insulted.  “We have your criminal record,” said Michelle.  “Hey, I’ll tell you what,” said Brett, “A single hair is not enough to tell you guys that I was there.”

Back at the Crime Lab, everyone seemed very tired.  Heather was reading the report, while Brian was putting pieces of evidence together.  At the laboratory, Ted was sitting and waiting for his job.  Everyone knew that they were at a dead end.

Michelle and Bobby, though, did not return to the Crime Lab right after visiting Brett Miller.  They went back to King’s Club Restaurant.  They took a look around, but still, there was nothing else left to find.

Brian entered the morgue, where Christian Norton had prepared the bodies.  “Anything interesting?” asked Brian.  “Not much,” Christian replied, “Thomas Murray died by the gunshot at his thorax.  Claire died with a single bullet through the heart.  You’ll have to thank me later, I have the bullets and I have sent them to our gun specialist.”  “Thanks,” Brian said as he walked away.

“Hey, guys!” called Ted.  “Yeah?” replied Bobby.  Everybody looked towards Ted.  “It seems like Brett Miller is leaving to Florida,” said Ted, “Tomorrow, nine PM.” “What does that mean?” asked Heather.  “We’re losing our number one suspect,” said Patrick.
