Durham University did a study that showed that dogs today are not as good at telling the difference between being friendly and being scared as their wolf ancestors were. the reason for this is that they are bred to have features  like wrinkly faces, floppy ears, and short muzzles , which make it harder for them to show a wide range of feelings and affective states.
