Thailand would be better without...(180-220 words)
Thailand's 2019 GDP growth rate is forecasted to fall behind those of its regional neighbors. The alarming figure signifies that the country's resources have yet to be utilized to their maximum efficiency. Thailand would therefore be better without corruption and discrimination.
The prevalence of corruption in Thai society cannot be exaggerated. Such misdeed proves a major impediment to the nation's development by allowing entrusted public officials to abuse the fiscal money for private gain through embezzlement and bribery. Tax revenues, which could otherwise be expended for the public interest are unfortunately misappropriated to benefit the officials themselves and their allies. Equally prevalent in Thai society are bribes paid to facilitate bureaucratic processes. Not only does corruption contribute to economic inefficiency, but it can erode public trust, a factor instrumental to elicit public cooperation and compliance.
Another factor precluding Thailand's development lies in prejudice. Rampant in Thai workplaces are discriminatory treatment towards people of certain sexual orientations, religious beliefs, and socioeconomic statuses, who may be subjected to unfair evaluation. The assessment process that bear no relationship to the victims' competence deters, if not entirely precludes, those with talents to fulfill their true potential, which could otherwise yield maximum benefit to the nation.
With the absence of corruption and discrimination comes the betterment of Thailand indeed.
