    Chapter 1 The Blaze

It was a cold morning in a small town of Jersey where everyone has to live their usual life. My life is the same as other high school students. Since this is my last year in high school it was obvious that my parents are pressuring me in order for me to attend the high rank competitive college. Colleges are not easy to be accepted and for that I had to exam almost every week. I felt miserable. I had always thought, if I could run away from all these burdens I could just clear away all my problems. However I seemed to be wrong.

Well, let me introduce myself to you. My name is Seth Sanders. I am a 17-year-old kid currently in 12 grades in Folban High school. I became pessimistic about everything because the expectations are driving me crazy and I would do anything to stop myself from having to face these problems.

My thoughts were interrupted by a sound that called me out of my conscience.

" I am expecting straight A grade this term Seth, I expect no failure from you" said my mum.

"Yeah, yeah" I replied walking out of the car.

I always hated when my mum does that. I mean I have to study my eyes out on this school why can't she understand that? Anyway while walking in front of the school, my friend Aaron Jones stood waiting. He wore a yellow jacket, jeans and white basketball Nike shoes.

I asked "What's up bro? Wanna hang out this morning?"

"Sure it's not like there's any important class this morning anyway" Aaron replied.

Let me tell you something about Aaron. He's 5'10 and he's white Caucasian. He is the best buddy I have (except some friend from my old school but more about that later). Aaron shared the same feeling as I because we felt like studying with drones since these nerds never had any social life. It's like having only one friend in this school. I always felt my life to be better. This life is not what I want and I am gonna do something about it.

Every week we would skip Tuesday morning class and hang out. We thought it would be more interesting than to study boring classes. But today we didn't notice that this decision would bring us more than we hope for. At least that was for me.

We were on the way to the mall when we saw a house that (I swear) was not really there yesterday or any other days! The house was made out of wood so old which shown that it was not been vacant for a very long time. It reminds me of a haunted house people see in the movies. The steps are covered with black slimy moss which shown its dark color from afar. I am sure the house was definitely wasn't here. We both exchange a confusing glance.

"I am sure this house was not here yesterday" Aaron said

" Me neither, then how come it stood as if no one's lived in it for some time?" I replied

Aaron said while pointing to the sign in front of the fence

    "Look".

I glance at the sign “BEWARE DO NOT ENTER IF YOU VALUE YOUR LIVES"

A curiosity pops in my mind. I decided that I should check it out. Perhaps there are some good things I could discover from entering the house.

"Interesting, let’s check it out" I said while starting to climb the fence

"Are you mad? It says beware do not enter if you value your lives" Aaron pointed.

"Well I would like to know what's really going on inside that house; I mean how can it just appear out of thin air in just one day. Well if you don't really want to enter then stay. I might find something more interesting" I said.

"Fine then but just be careful, I seriously think you won’t ever find anything there." Aaron replied walking away.

I don't really believe how coward he could be just checking over an empty house won't really hurt anything. It’s just a house it’s not like a candy house that invites you to enter. I thought in my mind that if I become occupied with something it would take my mind off the burden given to me.

On the way up to the house there was an air vent it was completely empty not even a lid or a cage, a person would be able to really fit in there, the sound of the water was dripping by bit like morning dew. I decided to walk down the sewer because No one really expects you to walk right on the front door and knock on their door. Usually people would think the house would pull big surprises with booby-traps and stuff on the front door.

I climbed up the air vent without hesitation and climbed up highest until my head hit something with a sudden bong! With no light in here it was like being in a tight space where people might find it scary, but for me it seems like the perfect place to hide myself at least maybe from my problems. So I started forward and a top of my head there was a handle seeming as to say that was a small secret trap door. I tried to find the lock turn to open the trap door. There seem to be a small yet screwed lock and it seems impossible to enter. I gave it a big shove but then the lock was weakening then I gave another heavy push. With a sound of Boom! Crack! the door broke open. The door seemed like many thousand years old because with dust and webs and dirt everywhere once I open it, it looks like it would crumble right then.

The atmosphere of the first room was dark that I can hardly see anything even though it was early morning and the sun shine on the brightest time of the day. I would really want to know what secret is in the house and honestly I was hoping to find something that can explain why this house just pops up like a big mushroom out of nowhere with a thousand year old door and possibly no one living in it. I was quite scared but my curiosity certainly wins fear because I took another step forward.

It took me about half an hour to look around the place. The house consist two floors with so many rooms and seven bathrooms,  five guest rooms and five bed rooms but only one room stood with another sign. "DO NOT OPEN THIS DOOR IF YOU DO NOT WISH TO CHANGE YOUR LIFE!" The door seems to have kept some of its own secret. I tried to open the door handle but it was stuck. Obviously I cannot open the door easy well the sign didn’t give me that invitation but I scour around to find some items that can break open the door. It wasn't seemed right for a house to give out a sign it seems to expect a visitor to stumble upon it. Mostly if there is the kind of a ‘Keep Out’ sign people would certainly do the exact opposite of the sign it’s just logic. And this kind of thought is one responsible for my mistake I would likely to regret.

Finding some rod or wood is not very easy especially the rooms are dark and hard to see. I went into the fifth bed room on the outer right. Well not so much of a bed it is an old cracked seemed to be a bed in the middle.  In all the rooms I've observe there was nothing but only broken furniture.  I had a thought of breaking the one of the furniture to use as equipment, next to the bed was a small grey dusty closet. So another invitation then guess what when I opened the closet the door breaks down immediately revealing a metal lever in the closet.

I was so excited to see what is really inside the forbidden room. I walked toward the room with the sign. With an aim on the handle I struck the door.  The loud bang! bang! Echoed through the quiet sound of the house. Aaron heard the banging sound and shouted something outside, I couldn’t make out what he said but probably he’d ask me what I was doing. With the last hit of the lever the door handle broke with a screeeech! And the heavy door fell on the floor.

The entrance was free. I opened the door and stepped inside. The room felt quiet as if neither sound nor light can enter. The sound of Aaron calling my name became dimmer and dimmer.

I look inside the room there was no furniture the only furniture stood a table in the middle of the room. My eyes catch the sight of a book. The book itself looks very attracting it was encrypted with golden letters which looks shiny with many different symbols that I have never seen before.

With curiosity I picked up the book and turned it open to see its content. The first page contains only two words "Brace yourself" within that slight second the book exploded with a BOOM!! Sending fumes, fire, light and other things I couldn't identify. I tried to dodge the light not to let it hit me. It seems like something very dangerous. I throw the book away and the book exploded even more light shone. But it still lay wide open as if nothing in this world could ever shut it close. I step forward to try to force the book close but then a big bolt of rainbow colored light finally hit me. With those hit of lights the figure in my eyes went blur dropping me into a completely deep slumber.
