“Kate?” I asked her.
“Yes, that is me.” She answered, “But you
can call me Katherine, too.”
“But, why are you here?”
She giggled, which was still cute “You still
didn’t get it, do you? I’m on this side, Ludwik is my father.”
“What?”
“Everything we ever done, was just a set-up
for me to spy you and know your weakness.” She said “You are very trusting you
know, you opened to me about everything. To be honest, I actually fall for you
for a bit too.”
We fell for silent for a minute.
“Uh, hello?” She said, “I’m waiting for you
to fall to the ground, maybe your heart might break into dust, or even cry for
a bit.”
Instead, I laughed.
Let’s me explain.
I’m already told you this twice before, but
my life sucked. I always got bullied in school. But the worse thing that I had
absolutely no true friend. When I was young, some of my classmate seem to want
to be my friend, but they end up backstabbed me to just get a laugh, this
happened quite a lot of time. So over the years, I started to create a barrier
between myself and people around me. The barrier made me never fully trusted
anyone around me, so that when they did betray me, I will not be surprised.
People I actually trusted are only my dad, and ironically, Ava.
So if you were looking forward for me to crying
my ass off, sorry that I disappointed you, but I just not like that.
Kate smiled “You really are a strange guy,
Jordan.”
I reshaped my sword into a spear, and walked
up to her “So, how much did the things you tell me is true?”
“Most of it, actually.” She said, “I lied
about my source of information, but everything I told you about myself is
true.”
“So you really are a book worm?”
“Yeah, apparently having a dad who very busy
about his work did give you a lot of free time.”
“You are being too relatable to me right
now.” I said.
She smiled.
“So” I said, “Did I have to defeat you or
something?”
“Yep.” She answered.
I made a weird face “I don’t know, a dream
magic didn’t seem to be very effective in the battle.”
“It has some use.” She said, “Example,
SLEEP!”
She casted a spell using her wand, the
blasted hit me back 20 feet. I tried to raise up, but the spell kicked in. My
eyes felt heavy as a truck, all strength drained from all my limps. I tried to bite
my tongue to keep my consciousness, but I couldn’t even do that.
I tried to blink away the sleepiness, but
every time I closed my eyes, a nightmarish hellscape appeared. At first, around
me there were multiple dead bodies around me, when took a better look, the
bodies were all me, dying in different formed, one was roast in flame, one was
stabbed with multiple swords, and one was chopped into pieces.
When I blinked again, all the corpses turned
into everyone I met in my journey, Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Zeta, Shan, Edge, dad,
Ava, and even that hobo-magician guy.
‘This is not real.’ I told myself, ‘It is
just a hallucination she uses to distract me.’
Finally, I’m able to bite my tongue and used
the pain to regain myself, and finally stood up.
“So sadness isn’t seem to be able to affect
you.” She said.
“Well” I told her “It’s get pretty easy when
you remind yourself it’s not real.”
“But you know” I added “You can make it so
that your opponent didn’t know it’s not real, by not screaming ‘SLEEP’ when you
casted it.”
She scratched the back of her head “Maybe I
will try that next time. But for this time, I guess I have to use plan B.”
She casted a spell again, I tried to dodge
it but it made a mid-air turned and hit me.
The spell she used this time was even
stronger, my mind was casted away immediately. The reality slipped away and
another hallucination came into played.
Around me was everyone I met in my journey
again, but instead of dying, the were cheering for me and Ava how we flawlessly
save everyone. I could feel everyone felt proud of us, of me.
Then another dream came in to play,
everyone who ever did wrongs to me was all around, each and everyone of them
were apologizing how they mistreated me and how they should have treat me like
a friend, not a thing to get a laugh off. And best of all, I felt like they
were saying it truthfully.
‘This isn’t real, snap out of it!’ I tried
to tell myself again, but the fact seems to doesn’t matter, it felt great, I
didn’t want to wake up!
Then another dream went in, I felt older,
stronger like I was in my late-twenty, I was holding Kate’s hand, who was older
as well, but pretty all the same, we were sitting on a wooden couch outside of
a homey cottage. In front of us was a field of green grasses and flowers and
butterflies.
‘Jordan!’ Mars screamed inside my head ‘You
are felling for her trap!’
But Mars sound sounded like it came from a
mile away, a sound that couldn’t comprehend, a sound that didn’t matter…
Then the last nail in the coffin came, a
little girl aged about 7 rushed toward us, with a banquet of flowers in her
hands, she leapt on to my lap. She had a long brown hair, the same color as me,
and a pair of lovely ember eyes, just like Kate. I petted her on her head, she
giggled softly, and I felt like there was nothing cuter in the world.
Kate used the flowers that the little girl
collected and created a diadem of flowers and put it on her head. The girl
grinned widely and spun around in circle, showing her flower crown and her
beautiful dress.
Kate rested her head on my shoulder “I never
know I’m able to fell in love twice.”
I agreed with her, I wanted this moment to
last forever…
There was a faint sound of a knife being
pulled out of a sheath and a sound that resembled a whisper in the ears.
“Don’t worry, the pain won’t last for long.”
One part of me wonder what that was, but all
the rest of me wanted to stay at this cabin and lived happily with Kate and our
daughter.
A sharp pain came through my neck, but I
didn’t feel it much. But that much still able to call me back. But still, I
couldn’t move my body, nor thought clearly. Only if there was a way to gain
more concentration…
The pill!
With all my will power, I stumbled myself to
the ground, and reached for the pill, which I kept in my shirt pocket for easy
access.
But as soon as I brought it out, Kate in the
dream drawn my head closer to hers and whisper “Let’s stay together forever.”
A glimpse of a tear came out of my eyes, and
I threw the pill in my mouth.
Suddenly, all of the dream and hallucination
went away without a trace. I gained control of my body, which was a good timing
too, because Kate’s dagger was an inch away from my throat.
I grabbed Kate by her ankle and twisted it,
so she dropped her dagger. She made a sharp scream and fell to the ground.
As I slowly walked toward Kate, she casted
several more magic at me in a desperate move, but it made zero to no effect on
me. When I reached her, I pulled out my sword and thought of everything she
done to me, and everything we did together…
And I used the hilt of my sword to knock her
unconscious.
“I hoped you have a good dream.” I told her.
And then I walked away.
