    IV.

Mary was thoughtful, touching the younger and smiling, kindly. Her wrinkled face indicated a good-hearted elderly, familiarly. She led Rosainta by hand to the brown-wooded seats at another side of the exhibition building.

“Finally, you get lost to this world as I’ve guessed,” Mary began to talk about the oddities.

                    “What does it mean?”

“This world’s not your home world, it just similar to.”

“I don’t know exactly, what’re you talking about?”

“A little girl, I’m just coming to help you, to lead you back home without replying, but I have something need to tell you.”

After that, the elderly woman took something out of her inside coat, showing Rosainta a mirror hand, oval shape. Its handle and edge were made of black wood, being antiques with the beautiful carving.

Rosainta leaned over to take a look herself in the mirror but the reflection was blurred looking like a frosted mirror.

Mary cleaned the mirror clouded with her sleeve coat then she rubbed on the beautiful carving handle. Just the time her breath could be held had passed, something occurred to be the amazing miracles immediately. Lots of light was shining at a moment, and then a frosted mirror became a clear one.

Excitedly, Rosainta was interested in the mirror as if that all happening were a magic. Then the reflection was not still picture anymore, but it became the motion picture looking like the interesting movies on a tablet.

“That’s you,” Marry said while Rosainta was leaning over the mirror to watch impressively.

The motion picture was showing them what happening in the past, Rosainta in a pink sleepwear was sitting at the green-wooded bench to wait for Dennis.

“That’s the latest dream of mine.”

“Right, then,” Marry rubbed on the handle again and said. “You awoke with a start.”

Rubbing on the mirror was how the elderly could change the motion picture and then it was showing them the new one, confusing Rosainta was in the canteen previously.

“Yes, I heard everyone speaking the weird tongue, what happened exactly?”

“You got lost in the latest dream, walking in confusion and far from the place of your dream then you awoke in the new world, here.”

“You’re kidding, Mary, getting lost in the dream caused waking up in the… weird world like this, impossible, how could it be?”

“I’ve ever told you already, no replying, I’m just coming to take you back home.”

“Mary, but I…,” Rosainta was still obstinate.

Nevertheless Rosainta’s words were not finished yet, Mary instantly put a forefinger on her lips, symbolic saying that do not wonder anymore.

“Fortunately, you don’t forget my caution then coming here to see me.”

    “Because I’m so scared.”

“It’s okay right now, don’t worry anything, you’ll be back home soon.”

    “How?”

“Listen as well, tonight, you have to go bed and sleep before the arrival midnight. When you reach the park as you’ve ever dreamt to, still waiting there until the clock ring the midnight time then you’ll awake in the reality, your home world.”

    “Is that the only way?”

“Yes, that is. Besides, a waiting means waiting, and you have to wait in your dream until a timely manner has come. Don’t be anxious or walking in confusion, you’ll get lost,” Marry seriously emphasized an only way to home world as if she always knew what will happened if Rosainta disobey the caution.

The happening all were amazing to Rosainta, she was thoughtful, especially about the dream leading to the weird reality world. Moreover, the stories of Dennis still ran around her mind. In the depth of her heart expected that his existence was coming because of all miracles as she encountered.

“Don’t worry about Dennis,” Mary said, she always knew everything even in Rosainta’s mind. “Just getting back your home world, gradually, someday both of you will meet each other.”

“Yes, Marry, and I would say thank you,” Rosainta smiled softly and now she was assured with Dennis’s existence. She was hopeful and willing to follow Mary’s caution.

“Keep in your mind, don’t let a momentary thought leading you to the wrong way, travelling in the dreams was able to getting lost as same as travelling in the reality. Take care of you and God bless you a little girl.”

    “Will we meet each other?”

“If you’re back home already, no need to see me later.”

“Mary,” Rosainta groaned and regretted, she also lovely hugged the elderly. “Even you said like that, I would see you again and again. You’re a kind of my family.”

“Oh dear, don’t regret. I’m certainly coming to see you if you’re falling in the troubles,” Marry had tender feelings for Rosainta. Consoling and hugging back.

After farewell, never know where Mary was going to be but Rosainta headed to her house. One thing she had known from this happening, it seemed like the parallel worlds.

That was a kind of mysterious in the world. The parallel worlds had no evidences for proof even any the science theories. No one knew the amount of parallel worlds, maybe thousands, ten thousands or millions. It was just like the mirror reflecting the original world as we were but there was something varying. What if someone crossed the road slower than the original world five minutes? The happening after that, some of results, were certainly different.

For this reason, Mary so warned that the travelling in the dreams was able to getting lost as same as the travelling in the reality. Such this world, a world of weird tongue, Rosainta was thoughtful of this. Perhaps, the dreams were some kind of gates to other worlds. She thought back to the latest dream, walking in confusion, far from the place as she had ever dreamt to, and then she awoke with a start in the new world that was not the original world as she was. Once she imagined all happening like this, she was so scared and would be back to the home world as fast as possible.

Along the way to her house, Rosainta walked pass a convenience store. She stopped walking and planned to hide herself from her parents, maybe hiding in the built-in wardrobe until bed time, because they still spoke a weird tongue, and there was nothing to do with them. No dinner with family caused stocking up on the foods. Therefore, Rosainta walked up into the convenience store, willing to buy some foods, a small pack of bread, a few of chewing gums and a big bottle of fruit juice. While buying in the store, she did not talk to anyone even cashier. She observed that no changing of letters and numbers in this parallel world, so she could pay the total price following the numbers on the dashboard of cash register as she saw.

Although Rosainta was attempting to avoid talking to other people in this parallel world, she finally had to encounter a conversation. While she was stepping out from the store, she collided with someone accidentally. Falling smack on her bottom, she groaned and tried to stand up from the ground. Somebody who crashed her to fall was gently holding her up with strong hands and arms, and she knew suddenly he was a man.

Everything around was paused, becoming silent immediately when their eyes met, Rosainta was stunned by his face as if she was falling in her dreams again. A man who was being in front of her, he was a man who she was throughout looking for.

    “Dennis!” Rosainta unbelievably exclaimed.

The daylight shone on his face, certainly! Rosainta was assured he was absolutely Dennis. It was not just an imagination anymore, a gentleman in white polo shirt and black jeans, healthy chest and athletic hands and arms. The wind softly blew his disheveled black thick hair and his face seemed like an elf boy in the fantasy fiction, mysterious but lots of fascination, a couple of his tender eyes were sparkling. He was real. Dennis existed in the reality. But this was the weird world, parallel land, not Rosainta’s home world.

“Wooda gusa mariloo?” His voice was also as before, politely, but he spoke a weird tongue.

Rosainta realized as well, he was Dennis but was not a man in her dreams. Dennis of hers was just only one Dennis, not Dennis in the other world. She had never known a man who standing in front of her now.

“I’m sorry,” She apologized and walked away immediately even she would to glance at all of his real appearances but she did not. His voice chased after until she got away further to hear anything from him.

Once walking far away enough, she stopped and smiled to herself gleefully because of Dennis’s existence. If the parallel world as she thought was a true story, existing here so should do in other world also. But one thing she was wondering, once in the past Dennis and she had made an appointment to meet each other in the reality but he was disappeared. If he existed, why did he never come to meeting? And after that he was also gone from the dream.

Rosainta finally walked into her house, stealthily. From a side of wall, she secretly took a look at her mother where was in the kitchen. Then Rosainta headed to her bed room upstairs, opening and closing a door without a sound. The built-in wardrobe was the target, to hide from parents, and lastly she succeeded her planning.

Hiding inside the wardrobe looked like a tent in a camp. Rosainta had some foods. Until three hours had passed she was so sleepy. A blanket was pulled to cover her body and she backed down on the floor preparing to sleep, almost slumber, she instantly heard something regularly below, at downstairs. Mother and father, they were talking to each other with an impatient sound. Although Rosainta never know what they said, she realized as well they were worrying about her disappearance.

“Dad, mom,” Rosainta softly said to herself, sorrowfully, but she said as a beloved daughter of them. “Although you speak a weird tongue but I believe that Rosainta of this world absolutely love both of you and she will take care of you. I have to back to my real home. Good bye dad and mom, I love you.”

Rosainta closed her eyes and still heard the anxious voice of her parents but she could not be interested to anything anymore because she was beginning to travel. Eventually, she dropped off to sleep and then deeply slept and dreamt.

Departure, from the world of a weird tongue and leaving Rosainta’s body inside the wardrobe, her soul was travelling to the dream as it was, she felt relaxing, well-being, and it seemed like she was swimming in the mist.

When barefoot walking touched the cold ground, she was conscious. The mist very diffused around, clear white and sweet aroma. The rows of roses were seen while she was walking through the mist. Just a few seconds later, she reached to the center, looking at the standing clock and it was fifteen minutes to the midnight.

Nothing ever change, the mist still diffused like a fantasy dream, the both color of roses were both side of path, the clock and its cogs always sounded Tik Tok, and the green-wooded bench was standing without Dennis.

Sloping shoulders with a disappointment, Rosainta asked to herself repeatedly where he was, she had never caught what reasons about his disappearance. No clear of clues.

Absolutely there was no one wished to await something or someone because it was a kind of huge torture, suffering and causing a painful heart. Rosainta was also regretting with being alone in dream like a girl who lost her friends when they all moved to a new house far way. In this case, more sorrowful, she was falling in love with Dennis so his disappearance caused her being like a broken heart. She even knew the answers of where he was and why he was gone.

Rosainta missed him very very much and more than she could explain to herself but unable to stop missing. All the happening in the dreams were back in her mind, crowding in her head, and emphasizing her heart to realize that no matter she could do anything, she was not able to forget these mysterious dreams, especially the stories of Dennis.

In Rosainta’s memories, there were Dennis’s appearances, his polite talking as if a bell faintly sounded in the wind, his smile and a couple of tender eyes and elf face.  He was a mystery guy but fascination. A good-looking man, Dennis, was still with Rosainta but neither in the dreams nor the reality, he was just in her memories.

“Why you?” Rosainta said faintly to herself, in other words, she was talking to the loneliness where was around her.

She rested her face to both of tinny hands and then she cried.

It seemed like a few hours were passing slowly but actually it was just a few minutes had passed. Rosainta wiped away her tears. In the rest of time, before the midnight time, she was sitting on a bench until there was shouting sound for her.

                    “Rosainta!”

Surprisingly, Rosainta was startled immediately with that calling. A man’s voice but Rosainta exactly realized he was Dennis. No need to hesitate on the bench, Rosainta stood up and looking around the place to find a source of his voice.

                    “Rosainta!”

A man was calling her again. Certainly, Rosainta was assured, that was Dennis’s voice.

    “Dennis! I’m here. Dennis!”

    “Rosainta!”

    “Dennis! I’m here!”

It seemed like Dennis did not hear Rosainta’s shouting back, so she started to run in mess, straining to hear his voice closely. She was following him but his voice was fading gradually.

“Dennis!” She shouted back for him again. “Can you hear me? Where are you right now?”

No responding from Dennis but his fading voice made Rosainta realized that he was on a little path along the edge of lake. She was chasing his voice. At that moment, another voice was appeared in her head instantly as though emphasizing what she had to do exactly and what should not.

A waiting means waiting, and you have to wait in your dream until a timely manner has come. Don’t be anxious or walking in confusion, you’ll get lost.

That was a caution, Mary had warned previously.

Rosainta was so confused. Unless there was Dennis’s voice, she will stay at the bench and wait for the midnight time to back her home world.

In the next few seconds, while Rosainta was standing at a side of lake, she was thoughtful and also trying to find Dennis. Then the clock at the center began to ring for the midnight time. Rosainta was very frightened. The midnight’s ringing was going to the end in less than a minute.

    “No…Dennis, come on…”

If the clock completed the twelve times of ringing, the dream will be gone and Rosainta will awake in the reality. She still caught his calling even his voice was more fading as if he was going to be disappeared again. Much wondering of Rosainta, she never knew what happened to him and there were many reasons she would know.

Finally, before the end of clock’s ringing, Rosainta decided steadily, running into the little path along the edge of lake, a strange path which she had never known. No the rows of roses, No diffused mist, it was just a path. Darker and further from everything she had ever dreamt to.

Yes. A way to back home, Rosainta left it behind, she was travelling again because of the fading voice of Dennis, to find him.

Mary said it right. Rosainta, she was going to get lost.
