3:30pm... After school
I usually go to the library (but hey I’m not a nerd or anything). The library I’m talking about is a civil center library. It’s not far from my school. Like... we can actually walk there. I often go there with Sarah, David, and sometimes with Ken. Others don’t really go there at all. Only once in the past two years, I guess, even though it’s really close to our school.
We go there just to talk, to be honest. We don’t read. We do homework sometimes, but the homework has to be something we don’t know how to do alone at home. So we can help each other like this. Oh and we never get those work done before the due date XD.
If there are only Sarah and me, we would have some girl’s talks. Like Sarah would talk the most and I would just listen. She always has a crush on someone and I would have to listen to it. Well, the thing is that Sarah is a pretty girl, but she’s kind of tall (taller than many girls considering Asian). Guys don’t dare to ask her out. Anyway, Sarah doesn’t seem to care.
If there is David with us, the conversation would be about everything on earth. Well, I mean ... we would talk about everything involving ourselves, except for girls’ or guys’ stuff. David is a good guy. He a smiling kind of person. Really cute, I mean, and also single. Whenever I talk to these two, I feel good. They’re both good. It’s just sort of annoying when they both are Korean and they would speak Korean with each other out of nowhere. But I don’t mind.
Once, the finals were approaching, our Chemistry teacher assigned a work. We had to write a reference sheet to review all the lessons we had learned in that semester. We decided to go to the library to do this together. We were just looking for a quiet spot to do work. I told them to bring worksheets, notebooks and books there so we could get it done faster.
In the evening, we walked there. The civil library is really huge. It has 2 stories. We almost reached the gate, but David walked the other way.
“David, where are you going?”
He didn’t answer. He just smiled and pointed ahead. I got the idea right away because his house was that way. But why...?
“Aren’t you gonna do the work, though?” Sarah asked.
“!@#$%^&*” That punk replied in Korean.
He’s really picking up a fight. Hmm...
“(Can’t you just speak) English!” I shouted.
“I’m going to pick up the worksheets at home”
After he made himself clear, we let him go. I was turning back to Sarah, thinking that we should go for some snacks, but she wasn’t there. I found her waving at me at the corner of the street. Then the buying snacks part had been said. I didn’t forget to buy something for David (and for sure I wouldn’t forget to make him pay).
There are about 4 popular shops that students from my school would go after school. They’re next to each other; McDonald’s, Subway, Tapioca Express (Boba tea shop), and Frozen Yogurt. Don’t be surprised by how the Boba tea shop got there. It’s really there. The owner is a Taiwanese old man that thought of the right thing at the right time. Boaba Tea is really popular, especially among Asians. It tastes really good. Somehow it’s better than what I had when I was in Thailand. The cup is big, and so the price in Baht would be expensive.
The Frozen Yogurt shop is also of the same owner. It came there not so long ago. What we can do there is we can add everything we want to eat into the cup; from yogurt of all kinds to fruits, cookies, and chocolate bar. The price we pay depends on total weight of the cup.
I and Sarah decided to go to the yogurt shop since we knew what David liked. We made one for him by adding orange-flavored yogurt with chocolate chips, orange, strawberry, and raisins in his cup. We also knew what he hated, Kiwi. What we did was...
“Cal, gimme that spoon” Sarah pointed at the spoon on the table next to the cashier.
She put spoonful of Kiwi in to that cup, and used the spoon to cover all of those with yogurt. My job was to get it done by making the top look normal and not suspicious.
“Sarah. Are you sure that we do this to him? Hope he’s in a good frame of mind when he sees it” I said.
“Well yeah... If he’s not, the whole library would be chaotic” Sarah replied.
“He was fine before he left. Now he’s at home, and the two things that makes him mad are...”
“Kiwi :D”
“...or his dog messing up his bedroom?” I finished the line.
“True...”
After we paid for the yogurt, we walked back to the library. We went inside, sat at the same table, and found out that David wasn’t back yet. We ate our yogurt while waiting for him. Time passed by like this every time we come here. We talk and eat most of the time, and we would do our work on the last minute.
Finally, Sir David had arrived, smiling as usual. We were at ease. (He was in a good mood). He was carrying a binder. When he sat down, we pushed his cup of yogurt towards him.
“For me?” He asked, not sure about it.
“Hell yeah...”
“I... didn’t ask for it. I actually left my wallet at home. I don’t have money right now. You girls can have it.”
“What the heck?!” said Sarah, “Don’t mind us, sir. You can have it all. Don’t have to pay us back. Well, we bought it only for you from the shop over there anyway.”
I was eating mine without caring about the situation. Anyway, Sarah paid for it, so... haha
“Fine. Fine. I’ll eat it.” David said, finally picking it up.
A while after, we noticed that David discovered the Kiwi...
Me >>> ( -__-) hey hey, it’s coming...
Sarah >>> (^-^ ) our favorite comedy drama is starting... hehe
...
David >>> (O_o) wtf?
“Whaaaaaa hey! You two! Kiwi!?” He threw the whole cup onto the desk as if it was the most disgusting thing on earth. We girls still pretended we didn’t know a thing. Well, we laughed after all.
“This thing’s hella tight!” I said, smiling and showing David the Kiwi in my own cup and eating it all.
“That’s freakin’ retarded! It’s not funny. Eww... here Cal, you can have it all. I thought I would pay for the yogurt tomorrow, but I won’t ANYMORE!!! Geez. Pay it your own. I won’t waste my money on something like this. Eww!” He complained. I could actually see that he wasn’t angry at us or anything, but he was probably just disgusted by Kiwi.
“Hey how come?! I bought it for you and you should at least just thank me. Pay it off! Be a gentleman! Geez...” Sarah complained too, but she was showing that she was satisfied.
“Maldo andwae” (no way!) David replied in Korean. This was one of Korean words that I understand. LOL
“Dwaesseo!” (Whatever!) Sarah shrugged. She picked up all cups and threw them away.
After all this mess, we got back to work. I remember that we didn’t get anything done that day. I came home and finished it around midnight. Sarah left it at wherever she did at the library. David didn’t do his work at all, saying that he wanted to see my finished work first.
I turned it in on time.
Sarah used an excuse and turned it in late.
David didn’t use any excuse. He just turned it in a week after, and he got half credit...
Kiwi... was the beginning of all this...
