    The Exiled: Dark Stars

    The Need for Blood

Raleigh was born different. He needed to feed on blood. That’s why the Paradise called him Raleigh.

Paradise was our home until we knew about its true nature. We weren’t together at first, but we got exiled at the same time. We clung together to survive. And Raleigh had special needs I need to fulfill for him.

He is a strong and reliable fighter. Born in the stone castle at the edge of Paradise, he raised animals and sometimes drank their blood. He was called the Dracula of Paradise, and people feared him. He was close to expulsion, and one thing he did gets him exiled.

He read the forbidden files, hidden deep beneath the stones.

“Destiny.” He said my name between pants and gasps. “I need…more blood.”

I reached my arm out to him, but he knocked it away.

    “Not there. Here.”

Suddenly, his cold hand was on the nape of my neck. It moved and undid the top button of my shirt. Instinctively, I scooted back, but he closed the distance so fast I got stuck against Ig’s snoring body.

“Please, Destiny.” He pleaded like a weak puppy. I loved puppies, and I couldn’t stand his sweet eyes.

Before I could protest, he took me into a hug. His tongue ran along the curve of my neck, sending electricity all over my body and a thousand butterflies in my stomach. My body temperature rose to boiling, and for the first time in forever, I didn’t think Raleigh’s body temperature was like hot metal. He sank his fangs down on my shoulder, and start sucking theblood out from the open wound, making weird slurping noises in the process.

I felt dizzy. My limbs lost its strength to resist. Finally, Raleigh seemed to regain his former self.

    “I-I’m sorry…I didn’t mean to force you.”

He quickly rearranged my shirt and redid the buttons. I was too weak to speak, so I gave him a flick in the forehead.

    “…You…stupid anemic bloodsucker…”

His mouth curved up a little. That expression was his most seductive. It killed the hearts of many women, young or old. Fortunately, I have some immunity.

“Ouch, you overdid it there.” I pressed my hand against where he bit me. Raleigh inched closer and dipped his finger into his mouth, using it to rub more saliva on the wound so it would go numb.

“Sorry…I lost it a bit there.”

“I hope you don’t ‘lose it a bit’ every single time you bleed. Gosh, I’m glad you’re not born an Outside World girl.”

I thought I heard a chuckle, but it was too dark to see his face clearly. I sank next to Ignatius and Elliah, who were both sound asleep.

“I hope the Wolves won’t find us. I don’t want to think about him.”

    “………..”

Raleigh was silent. He seemed to be thinking about something.

“Hey, do you have a wound on your arm? You’ve been holding it for a while now.” I felt the position of his hand.

“Nothing major. Something small stabbed me.” He answered and fell into silence again. His silence was calming, a form of communication without words.

“How intimate were you two?” He asked out of the blue.

“Me? And him? Nothing beyond small kisses. I was too young.”

“When he knew how I had to feed on you…” Raleigh glanced at his wrists. “His eyes were burning. Of jealousy.”

“You’re saying he has other reasons for coming on this mission with other Wolves rather than to kill me?” I asked, hoping that was the truth.

“We’ll see.” He cut the conversation by closing his eyes and fading to sleep. I listened to the noises of the traffic that blended into one chaotic blob and tried to sleep.
