The land of Nocten in Philasia, the largest and crowned during the period of King Neocoten, was very graceful for the first sight of a little girl, who had moved from the very far land. The Nocten was covering by cool vapor all around so that it was quite hard to see things in the early morning. The most part of the land was glass, the very green and wet that make people feel calm.
In the early morning here, there were not many people walking around like where the girl used to be. It was quite quiet. There was only a little boy, who was walking back and forth, trying hard to sell things. He looked cold, and soon after he met the eyes of the girl, he turned away quickly, and ran. The girl laughed a little bit, but then her eyes turned sad again.
A lovely sixteen-year-old girl was sitting on the bench in the corner far from people. However, she was still outstanding by her dark hair, dark brown eyes, and a beautiful face. Unlike the girl, local people in the Nocten had very light blonde hair, and crystal blue eyes.
At that time, the girl was thinking a lot in her mind, and trying to find a good reason why she had to move here. She did not hate Nocten, but she did not like it either. It was the place where she totally did not know anything about, and she refuse to admit that she had to be here. This was probably the first time for her to visit other places but her home, and then she was alone. She was about to cry after had done it bunches of times. She was trying not to because afterward would be nothing. Suddenly, unexpectedly, the little seller boys, who looked probably younger than her, ran back directly to her with his excited face.
When the boy stopped at her, he handed a small flower to the girl. The girl suddenly realized that at the moment he was running away, he just wanted to bring her this small flower. And the girl also noticed that under the dirty face, the boy was very lovely.
"This is for you ...sir" his face turned red after he said the last word
"...For me?" the girl said. She was really liked the way the little boy spoke. "Thank you. What is your name?"
        "Elle, sir" he smiled.
"My name is Adil, nice to meet you. You know, Elle, you are the first friend of mine in here" Adil smiled for Elle, she did not mind if he was a millionaire, or a seller.
"I knew you are not local people in Nocten, who are you sir?"
"Er... I came from Kundia, I don't think you have heard about it, do you?"
        "No, sir" answered Elle
Adil smiled at Elle "You don't have to be so polite with me, it's okay"
Adil and Elle continued to have a long conversation; they both enjoyed talking with each other. Adil liked Elle because he was so innocent and truthful, and he talked with her very serious. On the other hand, Elle thought that Adil was different from other people that brought him to talk with her. One was that she was not a people in Nocten, and also she did not conceit to talk with a dirty seller like him. However, their conversation had grabbed attention of people around there. Many people that walked pass the area were all interested in Adil and Elle. What was the reason that brought a Kundian to talk with a dirty seller in Philasia? Quite weird.
After a while, the conversation had ended because Elle said that he had to go to meet his mother. Silent came to Adil again. She was wondering what were her parents doing. Why they had to leave her here alone. As the time passed by, she began to feel hungry. Obviously, she had not eaten anything since arrived here.
Adil started to walk. She looked at the map that was given. She had to walk to the Tanhouse, which was the place that she had to stay during the time. The Tanhouse belonged to the Dukhurry family, as she knew, they were friends of her father or something. As she walked out of the area where she had been, Adil felt more comfortable. She just felt like a freedom when there were not so many people looking at her. The weather was cold. She could feel that the wind had hit her face, and it turned red a little bit. On a big and strong bridge, she looked down at her feet while walking, and then up to explore the atmosphere around Nocten. Nocten was different from Kundia. There were so many big trees that had big leafs. Every tree looked like that they were alive. They were so big that could possibly used as a house. Perhaps, if the Tanhouse was not good enough, she might have lived on the trees instead, Adil thought. She had never met the Dukhurry yet, and she admitted that she was a little bit afraid. She knew that sometimes people were not always good because they had different ways of growing, or environment. Here was Nocten. Certainly, people, included the Dukhurry, must be different from Kundian for sure. But how? Would they be nice? Would they be normal? It got to take a risk.
Adil was standing in front of a big old house, which decorated in a Philasian style. The house was totally brown with a warm look. It was not so tall but big. On the wooden door, it placed big letters 'Dukhurry'. Then, Adil did not know how to begin, weather to knock on the door or go straight through to the house without knocking the door because looked like it was not locked. She decided to wait for a little moment because perhaps someone would had seen her. At the moment, the weather was so cold that she was freezing. The wind started to blow harder so that the trees all around the Dukhurry's area were shake. It was her loneliness again. After a while, Adil could not stand anymore. She was about to solidify. Suddenly, there was a voice of human feet behind her."...Little girl, can I help you?"
Adil turned around quickly. She was really excited to see the host of this house. Fortunately, she met a kind face of an old woman. She was an old woman, who looked friendly. In her hand, there was a basket of fresh food and vegetables.
"I am in the Tanhouse, ain't I?" Adil asked the old woman politely.
"As you can see the word 'Dukhurry', well, you are!" the old woman said with a wide smile. "...Oh, by the way, why are you looking so pale, isn't it too cold here? Come in quickly."
The old woman pulled Adil into the house. It was warm as it looked. Inside the house, there were bunches of wooden furniture. She saw a big wooden table that decorated with a vase of colorful flowers, and several toys, looked like there were kids here. Adil liked kids and she wished to see them.
"Wait here, I'll bring you something hot," The old woman said and disappear into the small room in the corner.
Adil feel alright now. She wondered why the old woman was so kind with a stranger like her. She did not even ask the name. Perhaps, Philasian were all like this. Like Elle, he started to talk to her with no fear.
"...Mom, what's wrong...oh," the voice came from the woman, who had just came downstairs. "You must be Adil!"
Adil turned to the voice. She found a middle-aged woman who wore clean clothes with an apron. She looked graceful while she was smiling at her.
"Yes, I am" Adil answered awkwardly.
"Nice to meet you Adil, ...but wait a minute, why are you look so pale?"
"...I waited for someone to open the door for me. Outside is very cold,"
"Oh dear, ...you should have knocked on the door, don't be afraid otherwise you might get frozen. If something happen to you, how can I explain to your father," Mrs. Dukhurry said while she was looking for something to keep Adil warm.
"...He might not care," Adil whispered.
"Do not say that, Adil. He always cares."
Adil really thought that her parents had never care about her. They left her in the place where she did not know. How could they do that with someone they care about?
"...There you go! Hot chocolate for you, little girl," the old woman brought hot chocolate for her. "You'll feel lots better!"
"Thank you very much" Adil said and smiled
"Mom, this is Adil, daughter of the Coyale" Mrs. Dukhurry said to the old woman
"I knew it, I knew it! Anyway, you can call me Bel, and this is my daughter, Teri. She's your father's friend"
"Nice to meet you, Bel and Teri, thank you for taking me,"
        "Very pleasure, Adil." Bel said.
"Always fine, Adil. Whatever you want to do, just do it. It is your home now. You don't have to be so polite with us, okay?" Teri said "...oh, and by the way, you should drink the chocolate now or it tasteless."
        Adil nodded
Adil felt comfortable here, actually even more than her real house. Both Bel and Teri were nice to her. When she talked to them she felt that she can say anything unlike with her parents, and also the Philasian hot chocolate was great! But it was just a beginning. She did not know that everything would going to be fine like this or not. However, this house was good enough, though.
"...We are doing the morning meal, do you like something in particular, Adil?" asked Teri "If you want to add something, you should tell me because perhaps you might not get used to the Philasian food,"
"Oh no, I can eat everything. In Kundia, we eat everything, anyway, thank you, Teri."
        "Are you sure?"
"Yes! I really can, don't worry."
"Okay, then," Teri smiled and continued to do the meal. Adil wanted to help her, but she had no idea about how to cook. When she was in Kundia, she did not have to do anything. However, when she tried to do something, it got worse, so her parents always said that she should be doing nothing. So sad but true.
Adil was so tired. Today she walked for a long way, but actually did not have to. Her parents had sent her directly here, but she just wanted to explore Nocten so that she would know something more about the new place to live, but she had to walk back. However, it was worthwhile that she had a chance to talk to Elle. When she had nobody, she would still have him.
At the time, Adil just wanted a short rest, so she walked around the house, trying to find a quiet room with something soft enough that she could lay on. Finally, she found it. The room was small and warm with the wooden floor. In there, she saw an old small sofa, and a long wooden table nearby. On the wall, there was a big picture of a graceful woman, probably Bel. Overall atmosphere in here was brown and comfortable. Adil walked to the sofa. It looked dirty a little bit, but still okay. She used her hands to wipe dust on the sofa away, and then laid down.
In the kitchen, Bel and Teri were discussing about Adil quietly.
"Did you see her face, mom? She must be stood there for a long. Why didn't she knock the door?"
"I think she might not sure how to begin, she is just sixteen years old, simple as that."
"...Umm, I see. This is her first time for the new place like this. Nocten is totally different from Kundia, doesn’t she know? I don't think it is the good idea to send her here; Sanc should not have done this. It's too early, right mom?" Teri said worriedly "Adil doesn't like her father, I knew it."
"I don't know about that, but what I just worry about is that she is so young that could be easily got into the wrong way, if there is no one to take care of her," Bel said. "...but I'll try my best, I don't think she is a bad girl."
"Yes, I can see that, too"
During the time, Adil felt uncomfortable because of the sofa. At her home in Kundia, she had a big and comfortable bed that was very soft. Because of that, Adil dreamt weirdly. She dreamt that she was in a strange town, where she did not know anyone. She could not move so well, and also she wanted to pee. She moved difficultly to find a toilet. Suddenly, she met Elle there. Elle said that he would pee for her, just touch his hand. She was so happy that she did not have to pee by herself. She touched Elle's hand in order to pass her pee to him. However, the feeling that she wanted to pee still remain. She said thank you and good bye to Elle sadly, and continue to find a toilet.
"Adil, our meals is ready! Where are you?" The voice of Bel came from outside of the room.
Adil was happy to hear that because she was so hungry. However, she got to pee immediately, so she walked to Bel.
        "Bel, where is the toilet?"
"Oh, here you are." said Bel "I'll take you there,"
Bel took Adil to the toilet. After finished the mission, they were ready to have the morning meal.
Bel led Adil to the dining room afterward. In there, Adil saw bunches kinds of food on the very long wooden table.
"Oh! What a big meal," Adil said surprisingly. "Is there anybody else, but us?"
"No, just we three!" Teri said with the smiley face. "You, me and Bel"
"Don't worry, it's always be like this." Bel said while adding a basket of vegetables.
Adil sat down and looked around the table to see if there was something that she could eat. She found that most of the food on the table was the ones that she had never seen before, even in the Philasian restaurants in Kundia. She saw something like cups of yellow sticky soup, thin vegetables that covered something inside them, and something that looked white round and soft, perhaps, and many others. This would be harder than she thought.
"You can start now, Adil," Bel said. "You will like them"
        "...Er"
"Try some, try some!" Bel cheered.
        "Well, okay..."
        "Come on, try some!"
"Oh mom! Stop it." said Teri.
"Why? She will like the food, I knew it!"
"...Adil, can you eat this kind of food? If you really can't, I'll do something else for you." said Teri. "Just tell me."
"It's okay, I'll try. Thank you, Teri"
"Ah, you'll like it." Bel was still confident.
        "Okay Bel!" Adil smiled widely.
Firstly, Adil looked for something that looked the most simple. She noticed that under the vegetables in the basket, there were some ingredients that looked familiar such as a pink round and thin piece of meat. It looked fresh and delicious. Also the vegetables were looked pretty fresh and wet. She saw many more ingredients in there as well. They were all such simple like breads, brown flour, and meat from some kinds of animals.
"Oh, they look pretty simple, don't they?" Adil said.
"So, you feel more familiar with this kind of food, right?" said Teri.
"Yes, ...what is this?" Adil said while pointing at the pink round and thin piece of meat.
"That's ham, always goes with bread"
        "...I see,"
Adil was a little bit hesitated to try them. She slowly picked a small part of bread, and ate it with ham, and unbelievable, they were wonderful! She ate it them twice, and then she felt more confident to try others. She ate tons of ham, and vegetables with white cream, and then she looked at the cups of yellow sticky soup again.
"Bel, what is this soup made of?"
"Pumpkins, the big ones, really nice."
The pumpkins had a very strong smell, so she decided to try later.
After the big meal, Adil Asked for a permission from Bel and Teri to see if she could walk and observe around the Tanhouse. They permitted, and also Teri take her to the room on the second floor that full of her stuffs, that had been sent before she came here around several days ago.
"This is going to be your room," said Teri.
The room was quite big with the warm looked by the dark brown wooden floor. The wooden bed, which looked very soft, was so big that it was enough for three people to sleep on. However, it looked a little bit old. Near the bed, there was a very big and beautiful fireplace that could keep the room warm. It made from a dark brick. Next to the fireplace was a living corner that consisted of a cream white sofa, a small bookcase, and a small wooden table.
        Adil was very pleased.
"Beside your room is my two kids', Duboe and Arche. Now, they are at school, and they would be home around evening"
"Oh, you have kids!" Adil said excitingly "I have friends, now."
"Yes, if they don't bother you"
"Oh, never, Teri. I'm sure that I can handle them," Adil said confidently "By the way, how old are they?"
"Duboe is seven, she is a girl, and Arche is six, a boy. Hopefully, you would like them."
        "Yes, I think so."
In the afternoon, Adil's room was ready. She had taken all of her clothes into the wardrobe, and also managed all of her supplies into sections in order to make everything easy to find. In the room, there was a very big window behind the bed. She looked out from the window to see the environment outside. She saw a large garden, where there were a lot of big trees. One of the trees looked more outstanding than others, and it was the biggest one. Its body was very big, and dark. Its leaves were big as well, most of them were green, some were pale green, and the rest were almost yellow. Because of the cold and nice weather, Adil imagined herself sitting under that tree, reading some sort of novels, or perhaps sleeping without something under her body. She could spend her time right there as long as she could. This must be the best place for peaceful that she had ever been before.
