Kanchanaburi War Cemetery (known locally as the Don-Rak War Cemetery) was built in 1954 for the victims of Japanese imprisonment while building the railway to go to Myanmar. There are more than 15,000 people died because they were trying to built the railway.

In the world war II Japan decided to built the railway from Thailand to Myanmar , so they used prisoner of war to built it for them. Many prisoner died because of the disease. They tried to called for help by using the radio.

The railway is now call "The Death Railway". In Kanchacaburi this is now the famous tourist attraction. Many people comes to visit the cemetery to places the flowers to show their respect for those who died in the war.
