Vereor the dreadful gazed upon the world
from his shadowed silk sash. Blindfolded.
He knew no fright, for he saw no fear
And yet he felt the terrors as if it's near
Beside his presence was Nay the Obey.
She did his deeds in every way,
Banishing those who threatened his day.
Did it, though frightened, without delay.
She helped him keep his fear at bay,
To save herself from eternal exile,
By keeping his world. Blindfolded.
Behind Vereor was Dubium the doubt. The seafarer,
With black pearled hair under his navy corsair
Above his waxing shirt and ashen coat.
Each year he came and chanted his tales
The tales of wonder to his dreadful friend
Unlike many years, the dread god spoke to Nay the Obey.
“Durium the Doubt. He must be banished.
This is an order. Be haste with it.”
“I always do for you. I ask no question,
But to exile your friend without reason
I must understand your true intention.”
“He poisons your mind with hopes and dreams
He is the threat and that’s all it matters
Obey my words and do as I ordered.
Disobey my words and face despair.”
The softened twig of grim loyalty
Shattered away by the lord of fear,
Who spoke with cruelty. Blindfolded.
Nay the obey fell ill in dismay.
She gazed at Dubium and then to Vereor
“I do not fear you, for you fear yourself.
You're using me to delude your mortality
Only to let your fear devour your sanity.
If you wish to banish your dearest friend,
then you must banish me as well.
But before we leave, I must beg you
Untie the sash that clouded your sight
and witness the loss that you shall regret.”
Vereor the dread gazed at his pleading servant,
looking at her, sadly and pathetically; Blindfolded.
It was then that he raised his hands behind his back,
Untied his sash, and glanced
at the world around him.
Vereor watched the calm ocean with his amber eyes,
looking at the edge of the horizon,
where waves after waves crashed on the erosive shore
The Sun bowed to salute the thane of time
As the world became nothing, but the night of utter darkness.
Vereor felt twilight for the first time and had nothing aganist it.
His fear was far from existence and yet something was missing from him.
He looked back to where Nay the Obey and Dubium the Doubt once stood
and frowned in sadness.
He found two flowers withered in the wasteland
Dying, vanishing. Unfolded.
