Mark and Jackson had been friends for as long as they could remember.

They had met on the first day of kindergarten. The two remembered it well.

At the entrance to the school, among all the children in simple yellow polo shirts as their uniforms playing happily, only for the two of them did time standstill.

One child hiding behind his mother's legs and holding tightly to her skirt. Another child, however, watching the scene just beyond.

Jackson was a very sociable and cheerful child, and seeing that puny little boy, he wanted to become his friend.

Mark was of slim build, pale and short. For the first time, he was going away from his mother and being surrounded by strangers made him very scared.

Just as the teacher tried to approach the child, Mark began to hold on to his mother even tighter and his eyes filled with tears.

He was not a child who tended to cry and scream, and this attracted Jackson's attention even more.

The latter remembered just what his mother had told him that morning:

"Honey, you have to be nice to other kids. Remember: if you are, only good things will happen to you."

Jackson, then, gathered all his courage and approached the child. After rummaging through his pockets for a piece of candy, he held out his hand to the other child and with a big smile said:

"Do you want it?"

Mark, curious, peeked from behind his mother. He saw Jackson's smile, it was really funny, with two full cheeks and small teeth. The boy felt calmer and decided to accept the candy.

The two children now stood face to face.

"I am Jackson Wang! I'm from the chick class. And who are you?"

"... M-Mark Tuan."

At that point, Jackson took Mark by the hand and led him to the other children, leaving the two women in the doorway amazed.

Jackson's mother was right. That act of kindness would, in fact, make both of them feel wonderful emotions, though neither of them knew it yet. First friendship, then separation, frustration and self-doubt, but self-discovery, pleasure and, finally, love would also come ...
