Chapter 3 “What is going on here?”

A year passed, nothing much had changed—except for today. Shi-ta and Shi-to had just finished their studies and were about to fly back to the castle when Shi-ta paused, looking up at the sky.

"Oi, Shi-to, the weather’s been strange since we got here. Maybe we should walk instead of fly... Don’t know, I’m just not too fond of lightning,” Shi-ta said, glancing up at the sky full of dark clouds but no rain or sunlight.

“Huh, are you really scared like everyone else?” Shi-to teased.

“Ha!” Shi-ta smacked Shi-to’s back. "Don’t know… feeling like if I fly, something’s gonna strike me," he muttered, his voice tinged with worry.

“Weido bruh. By the way, it’s really terrible… How about slowly flying, like take it easy? No racing today."

    “Yeah…”

They often raced to see who’d reach the castle first, with Shi-to usually winning. But today, even Shi-ta felt the unusual tension hanging over them from the sky.

They flew across mountains, forests, and passed through the various realms of Heaven. As they crossed the last mountain, flying through their kingdom’s villages. Shi-ta relaxed a bit, laughing as he looked out over his kingdom’s villages below.

“See? Nothing happened. Guess you were worried for nothing, hahaha,” Shi-to said, smiling.

“Nah—something’s wrong…” Shi-ta muttered, his eyes narrowing as he scanned the area. “Wait! Someone’s attacking the angels!” Without hesitation, he prepared to fly down, ready to protect them.

But just then, something soared through the air—a flash of iron speeding toward him.

“Shi-ta, watch out!” Shi-to shouted, summoning his Whip Sword. With a quick flick, he deflected the Axe, sending it spinning away.

Shi-ta’s eyes widened in shock, his heart racing. “What… was that?”

Shi-to stayed in front of Shi-ta, protecting, staring at the resource of the Axe. There were the group of people that they were unfamiliar with.

“What? The devil?!” Shi-to’s voice was filled with confusion

“Shi-to, staying here and protect the angels. I’ll check on the castle!” Without waiting for a response, Shi-ta flew toward the castle.  As he soared through the air, he spotted angels under attack, bravely fighting back. “No…” The words Theronios had spoken echoed in his mind: I sense a looming danger ahead.

Upon reaching the huge Hall of the castle, Shi-ta was met with the sight of Theronios and Selara engaged in battle with a formidable devil—he seemed like he was the boss of those devils. He wielded a longsword with ease, while Theronios fought with a Celestial Blade and Selara with a Arcane Staff. The battle was intense.

“Oh, look! Who’s coming—” The devil flicked his longsword, a powerful gusting wind following, causing both Theronios and Selara to pause. A powerful figure appeared in front of Shi-ta—Draevus(เ๸รเวียส), a devil of the top Rank 5 class in the devil's world.

“I came with the forces of the devils. Do you like it, Shi-ta?” Draevus grinned maliciously.

“What do you want?!” Shi-ta asked, quietly summoning his bow, ready to confront Draevus. Suddenlt, a teaching about devils remained in his thoughts: “Devils often attack for the thrill of it…their targets are usually low-ranking angels”

“Haha, I see what you’re trying to do, kid,” Draevus sneered, turning away. “I’m not interested in killing you just yet, Shi-ta.” He pointed his longsword toward Theronios and Selara. “That’s where the fun is. Hahaha!”

“Oh, and don’t worry about being lonely—I’ve brought along someone for you.” Suddenly, Draevus’s servant appeared behind Shi-ta, striking swiftly. Luckily, Shi-ta barely dodged the attack.

    Draevus and his servant

The battle was now divided. Shi-ta faced the servant, whose movements seemed oddly reserved, attacking just enough to keep Shi-ta occupied, he used just the iron knight sword. Meanwhile, Draevus pressed hard against Theronios and Selara, his blows heavy and relentless, each clash pushing them closer to exhaustion.

“I apologize for this” the servant said to Shi-ta, this made Shi-ta stop the fight.

“Why do you apologize?” Shi-ta asked with a wondering voice.

The servant’s gaze drifted past Shi-ta, not focusing on him but rather something—or someone—behind. Shi-ta hesitated, following the direction of the servant’s glance—only to see Draevus drive his blade into Selara, who crumpled to the ground with a cold, lifeless. “No—!” Theronios’s voice echoed aguishly around the hall.

Shocked and furious, Shi-ta ran forward, aiming straight for Draevus. But before he could reach him, the servant intercepted, blocking his path and shoving him back with brutal force, keeping Shi-ta from the fight.

"Get away from me!" Shi-ta shouted, angrily in his eyes as he tried to break free. But the servant didn’t retaliate with force; instead, he calmly gripped Shi-ta's wrist, holding him firm, preventing any escape.

"Ah—now it's your turn, Theronios," Draevus sneered, lunging forward to Theronios. Their swords clashed with fierce intensity, sparks flying from each impact. Unfortunately, Draevus’s  strength was more than Theronios', and with a one powerful blow, cracks spread along the Celestial Sword. Without hesitation, Draevus drove his blade forward, piercing Theronios's chest.

“Dad—” Shi-ta’s voice cracked with anguish as he wrenched his arm free from the servant’s grip, rushing to Theronios. “No, no, no, this can’t be happening!” He gently lifted Theronios into his arms.

Theronios gazed at Shi-ta weakly. “You’ll be alright… son. You and Shi-to—take care of each other,” he whispered, his voice down as he took his last breath. Helpless, Shi-ta couldn’t do anything more—just crying silently.

Draevus watched the scene, a merciless smile on his face. “Ezred, toss him a sword,” he sneered. The servant, who fought with Shi-ta named Ezred, tossed his knight’s sword toward Shi-ta, who was still overwhelmed by grief and fury. “Come then, fight me with all that fury,” Draevus taunted, his voice full of cruel amusement.

Shi-ta gently placed Theronios’s body down, gripping the sword with his determination. He stood up, striding forward to face Draevus. Their clash erupted like a fire, but it quickly became clear that Shi-ta was no match for Draevus’s power. Shi-ta’s strikes barely impacted him, while Draevus's attacked him repeatedly. Fresh wounds on Shi-ta’s arms, cheeks, and chest, and blood began to drip steadily down his skin.

“Are you ready to die? Huh—Shi-ta?” Draevus grinned, flicking Shi-ta’s sword away. He lunged toward Shi-ta, his sword raised high. Draevus was about to strike Shi-ta’s chest as he did with Theronios, the blade gleaming while it descended through the air.

Unpredictably, Shi-to appeared just in time, his whip sword clashing with Draevus’s longsword, forcing it from the Draevus’s grip. The longsword flew through the air and landed behind him. "Are you alright?" Shi-to asked, raising his whip sword, positioning himself to face Draevus.

“Shi-to!” Shi-ta cried out, and tears came up in his eyes. “Our parents…” He couldn’t hold it in any longer and began to sob. His knees collapsed uncontrollably, his body trembling with grief.

“What happened to them?” Shi-to asked urgently, and glanced around the battlefield. His eyes fell on the lifeless bodies of their parents lying nearby. He froze, his eyes widened, his heart down, unable to believe the sight in front of him. But before Shi-to could realize, Draevus lunged at him with brutal force. With a powerful strike, Draevus’s punch sent both Shi-to and Shi-ta flying in opposite directions. Shi-to was thrown backward, colliding painfully with Draevus's longsword, which had landed nearby. Shi-ta, meanwhile, was blown forcefully in the other direction.

“Die, just like your father!” Draevus strided to Shi-to, gripping his longsword that pierced the floor. He was about to strike Shi-to, raising his sword up. Suddenly, Shi-ta lunged forward, positioning himself protectively in front of Shi-to.

    “Ah you again”

“Please… let us be,” Shi-ta pleaded, kneeling before Draevus with desperation in his eyes.

Draevus grinned with satisfaction, lifting Shi-ta’s face with a mocking pride. “Fine! Hahaha” He flung Shi-ta aside effortlessly with a surge of his dark magic. “Now—let me get something before I leave” gazing at Shi-to, Draevus summoned his dark magic that lifted Shit into the air. Shi-to tried to struggle, but it was all useless.

“Say goodbye to your twin, Shi-ta! Hahaha!!!!” Draevus laughed, his voice echoing satisfyingly through the hall.  He unleashed a surge of dark magic that rippled through the castle. After that, the walls trembled, and started to fall down each piece and pieces. The pillars cracked. The castle sounded like it was going to collapse.

Afterward, Draevus and his legion of devils faded into shadows, including Shi-to… Shi-ta reached out in desperation, his voice breaking, “No—Shi-to!” His hand extended as if he could somehow pull his twin back, but it grasped only empty air. The devils—and Shi-to—were gone.

As the castle began to collapse, Shi-ta ran out, launching himself into flight, but he was too grief-stricken and exhausted to fully unfold his wings. He plummeted toward the ground, but just before impact, the solid changed into clouds, cradling him gently. However, He had fainted before falling down into the cloud.

The sky predicted the terrible incident from the start of the day. Now—a single raindrop fell, followed by a torrent of rain that began to pour, drenching the land. It seemed as if the storm was a reflection of Shi-ta's heart, heavy with grief and loss. The kingdom, once a place of life and laughter, but now was silent….

Shi-ta lay fainted on the soft gray clouds that slowly turned red from the fresh streaks of his blood, embracing him gently. The relentless rain drenched him, yet he remained lost in darkness, and no one could tell when he might awaken. For now, let him rest….
