ลำดับตอนที่ #1 : (บทนำ) An Evening of An Ordinary Day
Red light fills the sky. It was one evening in a field of short grass. A gigantic horned snake was lying on the ground, gasping for air. It was
severely injured from a fight moments ago. On it, several knives sunken
and stuck below its scale armor, into its skin. It could no longer
move. Nearby, a girl picked up one of the knives that fell off from it
with a sinister smile on her face. She then laughed a bit as she look at
the dying snake and said,
"My, my, that was much easier than I thought!"
She looked at the snake as her many red ribbons swayed in the wind. Then she retrieved one of her knife from the snake and spoke to it.
"Hey Hornpent, you're rank B wanted but it's not your fault that you are defeated like this. I'm such a brilliant hunter anyway"
"Oh and did you know I wasn't even using my full power? I'm really much better than you"
"You never stand a chance against me since the start. I'm just too lazy to kill you instantly!"
She was the only one speaking. Not only the snake had no strength to reply, but also the fact that it cannot speak human language. After giving herself a few more compliment, she stopped and silence fell. The only sound audible was the faint breathing of the dying snake. Then suddenly, a small voice of a male cuts the almost silence.
"Um..hey Mortia.."
It was the girl's friend who was with her all the time. He also helped her defeat the snake by supporting and casting long range attack spells. He wasn't very satisfied with her saying as if it was her work all alone.
"What do you want!?"
The girl responded to her name and turned to him. She seemed to be quite unsatisfied with her friend interrupting the moment she was thinking of which part of the snake should be cut and taken back to claim rewards. The boy secretly sighed and decided to tell her what was on his mind.
"You know, Mortia... it wasn't you alone..."
"Yeah I know, Terro, but I'm more important than you! I took it down and I always make a kill, not you!"
She walked away from him after yelling at him and proceeded to continue thinking what she was thinking earlier. Her friend, Terro, sighed in distance. After a few moments, Mortia took the silver knife which she used to almost killed the snake and held it high.
"Your time is up. Good bye"
She said to the snake as she bring down the knife deep into its forehead, killing it. Then she pulled it out and used it to cut its horn. She was smiling the entire time she was killing and cutting its horn. Meanwhile, her friend could only watch and wonder how could she smile after killing it like a cold-blooded murderer.
The night falls by the time they departed from the body of the dead snake. It was dark and quiet on the way, until they reached the Town of Eternia. The town was full of lights and digital gadgets. Although, most of them are powered by magic. The two walked into the main gate and down the streets, passing countless of stores and one of the five clock towers in the town. They stopped in front of a large building which looks like a headquarters of something decorated with several set of seven stars in hexagonal formation with one extra in the middle. It was actually regional headquarters of the hunters. They walked inside and to the largest counter. Mortia then placed the horn and said,
"Hornpent, rank B"
The person behind the counter looked at her, then at the horn. She took the horn and verified it. After she finished, she gave the two their reward, a considerable amount of money, all in notes. She also complimented them.
"You two are really good! You're only the Newborn Star rank but already able to take down rank B wanted!"
"Naturally! I'm good, and will always be the best when I want to!"
She laughed a bit before taking the reward money while her friend quietly and politely thanked the person. Mortia then turned away from the counter and faced in the direction that everyone could see. Right after, she said to them,
"You all hear that? Someday in the near future, I will be the best hunter! The best and strongest one that everyone will admire!"
All lives in the room fell silent, looking at the arrogant girl with dislike and hate...
