I have a interesting question to ask you all

What are merits?

They said that we ought not to judge of men's merits by their qualifications, but by the use they make of them. Our merit gains us the esteem of the virtuous-our star that of the public. Never to reward any one equal to his merits; but always to insinuate that the reward was above it.True merit, like a river , the deeper it is, the less noise it makes. Assuredly men of  merit are never lacking at any time, for those are the men who manage affairs, and it is the affairs that produce the men.

I admit that what they said has a point

But…Is that really all about Merit?

I don't know if what they said is all right, so I'll spend three years in this school figuring out what Merit means.
